Can anyone recommend a good equine vet (for a problem that needs diagnosing, not just routine stuff) in West Oxon? I do use someone for routine stuff but have been told they're no good for anything other than teeth and jabs...

Any recommendations would be very gratefully received. Happy to take the horse over in trailer if need be.

Thanks

Arrrrgh cant remember what they are called now - they used to be Walker and Glanville at Hook Norton, but they are some other name now. Mum/sister use them for small animals but they have a large equine section too, as well as a large animals section.

Alan Walker is/was one of the top equine vets in the country - he got struck off but not sure if his appeal was successful, for alledgedly falsifying dates on vaccination certificates.

Oh - just googled them - they are called Hook Norton Veterinary Surgeons now, makes sense

Hook Norton are your yard vets, they are quite competent, depending on who comes out.
For specialists I recommend Bourton Vale near Stow, they do cover your yard area.

Cheers MH. Spoke to the owner who wants her to have a couple of weeks off first to see if that helps, so will take it from there. Hopefully it's something and nothing.

CC - Hook Norton are very good. They have a vet called Jacek Bobkiewicz who is an orthopedic specialist and surgeon, he's super on lameness, and has operated on my horse twice now. Highly, highly recommended. Ask for Jack if you ring though, as he really is the best.

Thanks

Owner wants her to have some time off first, so a couple of weeks or so holiday from now and then I'll see how she is after that. Hopefully she's just tweaked something and she'll be over it in a couple of weeks.
