This is why I hate SJ - I hate standing around and the endless waiting which none can tell you how long it will go on for. Its probably all those eventers with their seasons over trying something new!
Oh the new arena had me in raptures! It truly is beautiful, and loads and loads of room. They'd also got an FEI international course designer over to build the course, I think he was from Spain, but I couldn't tell you his name I'm afriad. They really made an atmosphere too, playing loud music during the course walk and the commentator was actually making it a bit of a competition too instead of just "so and so in the ring with such and such" - I don't think I've ever been in such an exciting unaff 85 cms and BN!
They did single phase, which I've not done before, basicly everybody jumps a course of 12 fences whether they are clear or not. However if you are clear up until fence six you are then timed afterwards and that is your jump off score. Slightly confusing, but means you get more for your money and most of the course is quite meaty.
Liberty was very good, didn't try to stop at all and just had one down in the jump offs of both when he hesitated and came down on a back rail. BBs YO said (unprompted) what a nice horse he was which was very nice coming from someone like her. Really pleased with him. Considering a month ago he got eliminated in a 60cms I am very pleased with him!
Cannot wait to go there bt NOT at a weekend! Single phase is a tad confusing but at least everyone is in the arena for a pretty standard amount of time and its pretty simple to work out when your round will be!
Glad you had a successful day - its lovely to have someone compliment your horse when you know their view means something
That's why I do dressage - you get a time beforehand. I couldn't do that! When I jumped on a ticket earlier in the year (before I broke my collar bone) there weren't many in the class and ended up doing the Disco and NC in pretty quick succession - one of them was at the weekend but the others were midweek.
Pretty much why I gave up showjumping, it's worse once you are out of BN as you have no idea when the disco, newcomers will be. I've turned up to find I've missed the class and other days to find I still have 2 hour wait.
Oh and then just as you are warmed up finally ready to go in the judges decide it's time for a teabreak!!
I don't understand why they do single phase when there is 80 in the class, make it 2 phase, at least the class will finish quicker, and with 80 you are going to have to jump DC to get placed anyway.
I always phone up to see what time I need to leave if I am jumping in a later class.
