can't see any of those pumped up steroid boosted monsters being overly quick over a "quarter mile" track...wouldn't outrun a tortoise!!!

no pics of them ridden,,,,,,,,

they arent ridden, they are shown in QH Halter classes and this, ladies and gents, is what happens when you take away a horses job and breed to some peoples aesthetic ideals. happens in dogs too.

I agree with Dr_Spring. Take a look at the Belgian Blues and see for yourself. I've always thought they look gross but at least they are not ridden. The word 'steroid' comes easily to mind.

Very true; very well said.

I think it could happen in some form in ANY breed, type or species where showing becomes THE competition, even if the bulk of the breed still have a job to do.

It happened with Shires and Clydesdales (what use is all that white feather?) and I think I can see it happening with some dressage horses, beautiful though they can be.

Seems to be a human trait.

and all that height?

Shires were never supposed to be tall.

aha - I thought I was going mad with deja vu (also had too much cider but that's another story) but no, here is a month-old thread on these exact same horses:
http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2289060/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1
I will also re-post my link to a good HYPP site:

Personally I cannot believe that these idiots are breeding horses with a heterozygous HYPP gene. There are many other things I cannot believe these idiots are doing/thinking... think fugly horse for anyone who has read the blog!

Section As - & ditto!

Ours was a beautiful pony- great character- bred for a tiny pint-pot muzzle and short face- in which the teeth were so overcrowded and impacted that she had to have major dentistry as a youngster. She would otherwise literally have starved to death.

jeez-look at those pasterns, apart from anything else!

[/ QUOTE ]

What pasterns? I didn't see any - just hoof straight out of fetlock!

Gross. I like QH's, but agree that some of them look like beef cattle.
This is my boy........he doesn't look like these, Thank God.
