Good hacking destination in Surrey

I'm a fan of Woolgars Farm too, plenty of lorry parking and there's a toilet on site with hot running water!

If you plan to ride out from Newlands Corner just be aware that on Sundays the car park gets very busy early on.
There is usually a lot of bikers that park up there so it gets noisy.
And there is a horse and carriage that runs rides most Sundays - just to be aware of if your horse doesn't like carriages.

I've ridden alot round Redlands, but never boxed there as I was a livery in Westcott.

Also used to be a llama trekking centre near Newlands. People walking llamas out, in groups, tacked up. My old horse had the most extreme reaction and actually bolted ( not run off, he was in a blind mad panic, fell over and I lost him for about 45 minutes). Never reacted so strongly before or after and never bolted again. Just warning you!

Never seen the llamas. Wonder where they are?
Fortunately my girl is llama proof. We have some near my current yard she's fascinated by them. Likes pigs too. But hates sheep, has been know to try and kill them.
Going llama hunting tomorrow now as I'm working very close to Newlands tomorrow x

Nothing against Llamas. They have as much right to be out as I do, just that my normally reasonably behaved horse took such massive and unexpected dislike which I had not foreseen.

Coldharbour is where I am. Lots of circular routes. You can get to Westcott, Abinger, Wotton, Holmwood, Holmbury St Mary....all minimal road work. It's mostly sand, so very little mud. Certainly not impassable. You're more likely to suffer with stones up here with barefoot horses, so Hoofboots might be needed for unshod beasts. Carparks I would recommend are on Abinger Road, either Windy Gap or Landslip (both NT, but free). Parking for the Redlands is little pull ins on Coldharbour Lane. There aren't many marked bridleways on the Redlands, but lots of logging tracks and plenty of smaller tracks for the more adventurous! Same for Leith Hill. Permissive rides are common and lots of Forestry to explore.

I was just going to suggest Leith Hill and Anstebury Camp and round there. I used ride all over there as a child with my Mum (many years ago). There used to be good sandy gallops up on Leith Hill which the local racing yard in Coldharbour used to use, not sure if they are still there now (we're talking 30 years ago), also lovely wild blueberries to pick in the summer (now I really am reminiscing).
