Good horse books to read?

Loved The Horse Dancer. Saw it on library shelf only because of the title but well written! Original storyline and exciting and heart wrenching in parts.
I can still remember parts of Fly By Night from over 20 years ago. Interesting characters.
Am looking forward to reading Clare Balding's book thanks for the thumbs up.

Another vote for The Fox in the Cupboard. Being a late comer to hunting myself I really identified with it, and its a lovely story. Also in the same vein, 'In The Pink' is hilarious - two London girls go to Ledbury country to pick their 'Peppermore' or local squire to fund their hunting. I have read this one time after time.

Another one I love is I think called Dark Horses and Black Beasties, its a very strange dissertation on woman and horses, but its extremely readable and very, very true and will make you cry.

I love the horse dancer by Jojo Moyes - fabulous, couln't put it down and have since read every other thing she's written.

Also another vote for Clare Balding's book - how lovely does she seem!

Jojo moyes "horse dancer" brilliant story.
I found this a bit pants, sorry! Entertaining enough but just not very convincing or well written.
Horse Heaven by Janey Smiley
Agree with this one, though! Fabulous book, and plenty to get your teeth into.

I got Pippa Funnell's autobiography but it's one of the few books I've given up on - it's just a sterile list of names :( Does anyone know of any horsey autobiographies that are actually good to read? Oh, I've read Clare Balding's - took a bit of getting used to the writing style but really enjoyable!

I wonder if I can get any of the old kids books on the kindle...

I've read 3 books by an author called Lyndon Stacey, they are a bit like Dick Francis but not about racing. The ones I've read were about eventing, show jumping and an artist/animal behaviourist and were very entertaining but I haven't been able to find any others by the author. I found them an enjoyable read and I also enjoyed secretariat by William Nack.

Because if this thread I bought Clare Baldwins book and read it in a day. I was off work with the Norovirus and had time on my hands lol!!

Really enjoyed it. Any more suggestions for possible kindle books. I've read in the pink and the dressage chronicals. Both of which I enjoyed!!

the only book that I could read again and again is the horse whisperer! dont know why, I randomly picked it up in a shop when I was 13 and read it in 2 days!
