Good horsey biographies

Tony Mccoy's is very very good; Franke Dettori's is good; Monty Robert's one is good as well, Mark Todd's one (So Far, So Good) is brilliant

I thought Nick Skeltons was good.

Don't think they are still in print but I highly recommend Lucinda Green's 3 autobiographies if you can get hold of them.

So Far, So Good by Mark Todd is also excellent.

i loved pippa funnell's, i couldn't get my head out of it! but i have mary kings, i think its called william and mary. that was really good and also lucinda greens but i didnt find it that interesting but i think it was because she was a bit before my time!!!

Try Jenny Pitman's autobiography - if you have read any of her novels (worth reading) then you will know where her inspiration comes from!!

I've been reading all Mark Rashid's books again. The earlier ones are all about his work with horses, but 'Lessons from a ranch horse' is very biographical. I loved it.

There are some great out of print ones - Pat Smythe, Anne Moore, Harvey Smith, Caroline Bradley, Lucinda's set etc - which show up in used shops from time to time. I just finished Dorian Williams' and it was very entertaining. I liked Mark's (signed

) and Mary King's. I also second Mark Rashid because he has interesting things to say and the Pullein-Thompson sisters', especially if you read the pony books as a kid. I haven't read it but apparently David and Karen O'Connor's is interesting. There are also some very interesting non-fiction books like "A Sunday Horse" about the American showjumping circuit and "The Horse Whisperers" about, well, the old horse whisperers.

I have always liked the "horse" biographies - I have Murphy, Priceless, Charisma, Big Ben, and a bunch more I can't recollect. (They're all still in boxes.)

Echo that Mark Todd's is really good. I also really enjoyed Riding through my Life by Princess Anne, Jump For Joy (was that pat smythes???) and poss my favourite, My Colourful Life by Ginger McCain, which had me in tears on more times than I can remember - but thats only because I adore Rummy! WFP's is a very good read too but I finished it far too quickly.
