horse is 16.2 WB 6 yr old who has wolf teeth removed last december. teeth visit is now overdue but wondering if this is why we have not been able to get left canter for 6 weeks now and right canter is now not happening either without bucking. we get few steps of wrong lead canter on left rein then horse locks head and neck to outside and i try and pull back round onto circle which results in us finishing at the fence just about stopping and her groaning. walk and trot work is good, in an outline etc. seh exhibitied very simiklar behaivior when wolf teeth coming through. saddle ok,. pyhsio 6 weeks or so ago, i have just had 2 lots of physio as my back not right either. she also when asking for canter puts head on floor and trys to clear off.

I know it seems obv that it may well be teeth as she is overdue but she is also an clever mare who will try to not do work when it gets hard.

Thanks I know and I will do but she is just a talented mare but oh we have our tantrums and I am just trying to ask myself whether it is really becuase of her teeth or is it another argument.

If it's not sorted with a dentist visit, get your saddle/ back checked. My mare was also fine in walk / trot but became a nightmare cantering, bucking loads. It turns out my airbags had deflated in my saddle, so I got them replaced with flocking and hey Presto - canter was back to normal! I think the front of tha saddle pushed more in canter than any other gait hence the trouble.

same as above, fine in walk and trot and cantering out hacking in a straight line was fine but ask for canter in the school on a circle and then we had bucking issues apparently the saddle was digging in either side of the withers and causing pain.
