Please recommender any good instructors you have used in Essex.

I am mainly looking to improve our flat work and prefer a more classical approach but I only need basic level stuff as my horse is very green.
All I want is a knowledgeable instructor that is nice to the horse and doesn't cost the earth.

I had a lesson on Sunday which was very good and I was in an optimistic mood until she charged me £45 for just over half an hour, I mean we we only walked and trotted a couple of circles for God sake.

Based near Upminster.

Essex is 'blessed' with lots of great trainers. Have a look on the BD website. Also have a look at the ads in Essex Rider Magazine. Sadly most don't come very cheaply!

I have taken a couple of names from the BD site that I will check out but I would like some personal recommendations as I think that's the best way with instructors.
Have you used anyone who you think may be suitable?

Also thanks for that I will have a look on her site.

I have used Maureen Keys (she's a BD judge I think).....she's not to everyone's taste but I found her to be good for us. Let me know if you want her number.

Becky Ewart - absolutely classical through and through and has been a BD National champion with her horse George that she produced herself from a 4 yr old at prelim through to Adv Med this year (and got to the Nationals every year in the process!) So she's worked horses right through all the levels.

She's registered with BD as a trainer, trained with the TTT and is BHS qualified too!

She doesn't cost the earth (nothing like what you've been charged!!) is happy to travel and is THE most down to earth person I've ever been taught by.

Her website is http://beckyewartdressage.co.uk

Hey thanks so much for the advice it can really be a minefield with instructors.
Twiglet why do you say she isn't to everyones taste?
Thanks Spockkyboy not sure how much she would charge on top to travel from Chelmsford tho.

Does Simone ward run Tylers? I have definitely heard the name somewhere.

Also thanks very much Twiglet Becky sounds very promising I will check out those sites.

A touch OT but does anyone know if sarah boys offers lessons on lesson horses? I am looking for an instructor near chelmsford for some lessons but am currently horseless.

coen did u mention that you are at harwood hall before? They have clinics with debby lush - is she any good for you? Or Mary (dont know her last name goes up there) she is a classical dressage instructor i think.
Failing those i used Shelley Brooks and she was fab - she is based nr wickford.

Yeah I was at Harwood last summer and Debby is good it was her that came out on sunday but as I found out she charges a special rate of £30 at harwood but £45 to anyone else which is way out of my budget for half an hour.

I have heard good things about Shelly Brooks how much does she charge?

Hi
Simone ward runs common farm , a training yard on tomkyns lane. Her website is simonewarddressage.com.... has NO connection with tylers. I couldn't recommend her enough!!!!!
