Or is this just never going to happen?! Does anyone know of anywhere in the Edinburgh area which gives good riding lessons?. I'm so fed up of trying places and paying a fortune for a lesson only to find that the horses/lessons are not up to much. I don't mind somewhere further afield, or perhaps a much smaller place/person who just gives lessons on a small number of horses/ponies. Seriously getting desperate and missing instructor back at home!

PM me about where you've tried and what you want to do with your lessons and I'll see if I can think of anywhere else. I'm based just over the bridge and work in a local saddlery part time so know a fair number of yards instructors etc over there.

hi there, im hoping to start riding again aftre a 10year break in edinburgh. unfortunately dont have much money or my own horse so will probably only be able to afford one or 2 lessons a month. although ill be very rusty i did used to do a fair amount and would class myself as a fairly decent rider. i certainly dont fancy spending £30-£35 on an individual lesson only to find it is very much a typical riding school pony/instructor. I really want to continue improving my riding on good horses with decent instructors. can you let me know where you have been and dont recommend? have you tried houston riding school? i havent but have had it recommended. any other suggestions welcome!

Do you know what Ernest Dillions yard called? I tried googling it and didn't find much.

I'm yet another one desperate to get some decent lessons in Edinburgh!

I used to ride in Houston riding school and the instruction is really good. Probably say its flat work focused but they do some jump lessons too. Facilities wise, its pretty basic. Indoor is fine but there is very little else. Maybe its changed now though.

I left as I didn't like the atmosphere to be honest. Nothing wrong with the instruction but i found my group lesson was really cliquey etc. PM if you want to know more!

I spent 10 years looking for a decent place - good luck if you find one! If that place in falkirk is good, it would eb well worth travelling to as I couldn't find anywhere decent around edinburgh itself.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I think to be honest I'm going to end up having to travel further away to get a decent lesson- what I've had so far has honestly been awful. I think maybe going further once a month or so for a good lesson and trying to find other riding around Ed will be the way forwards!
