Good looking field shelter - is there such a thing!

Field shelters are normally quite pragmatic (slightly dull?) things .... but as I will be able to see mine from the house (😁) I was thinking it could be more fun.
Any inspiration?? For 3 horses.

I saw the title of this thread and I also thought of an Arc one. There is one if a field that i drive by to get to work and it looks lovely. It is really only a field shelter though as it is open both ends so would have to be placed with the prevailing wind direction in mind but it looked so inviting and airy.

The Problem with the Arcs is that they really need the side supports to make them more secure and for me they make it look quite ugly.

If you have the ££ i would get a carpenter to build you a nice looking field shelter that looks less like a tool shed and more like a garden office type posh shed.

We are in the same situation in that we can see our field shelter from the house, we designed a shelter on skids that has a pitch roof and larch cladding (the larch has a sort of natural wavey edge to make it look 'softer'). I am very pleased with it.
 
Arc IMHO = wind tunnel :D.

I reckon our more conventional field shelters look respectable enough to be seen from our house. They are constructed in the same way as our stables. This is the smaller shelter, 20’x12’, there’s room for three if they squish up a bit. Plus the interior of the larger shelter 30’x12’ with plenty of room for three.

Sturdy construction and being bolted onto a concrete base helps! And anti chew strips.

IMHO field shelters take at least as much flak, if not more, that stables, so they do indeed need to be very robust.
 
I have an arc, the horses seem to love it, and I think it looks nice, plenty of people comment on it. It’s a wind tunnel if you have it lined up with the prevailing wind, but not if you think about how you set it up. The supports can be a bit of a hazard though, although unlike the poster above I don’t think they look ugly.
 
I can guarantee an Arc would blow away here!

We are planning to turn an old shed into a field shelter, we will be able to see it from the house, it will look very similar to Tiddlypom's. I like the look and even if I didn't it would be worth it to have them at home and for them to be able to stay out overnight for more of the year than currently.
 
The best field shelter I have known was one we had at my parents old house. It was an just an old-fashioned open fronted brick-built small barn that was probably 100 years old. All the animals, cows, donkeys and horses, used it. It just gave off "safe-haven" vibes. I think that field shelters have to have a very stable (as in rock solid) feel to them before animals will freely use them.
