THANK YOU all so much for your posts last night, i was in tears because i was so dissapointed with my self. I will confess now that i have had him 12 months. I have riden him out with others and have tried everything that you all suggested. But your vibes must have been really good last night. This morning i bit the bullet and went with it, a healthy slug of rescue remedy, a neck strap and armour. Planned a quiet route and time. Once out on to the road we trotted on to the village turning, singing yellow submerine at the top off my voice. Why can we only ever remember the first verse of these things, the faster we went the faster i seemed to sing or it might have been the other way round. Anyway once off the main road i was a lot happier and enjoyed my hack round(still singing) so by the time we had to get back onto the main road it wasn't so bad. My lad was very good and really looked after me a little surprised i think to be on his own and very nosey at everything. I probley looked and sounded very strange as my position was the last thing on my mind, just trying to keep a loose rein. I WILL do it again and it WILL get better,I might even learn a second verse.

Fantastic!! Well done!! At one particular place on a hack my boy was always a bit naughty so I used to sing. For some reason the song was, we are the champions by queen, and the same as you, could only remember he verse!! Happy hacking!!

Well done! Keep going out on your own and try and relax and enjoy it. My horse has never hacked on her own and as my OHs horse has been out of action we have been going out on our own more and more. She was quite nappy and tense to start with (and I used to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). She is getting much more relaxed (and so am I no more singing), now my OH can't ride due to having an operation and I braved it on Sunday and rode Saffy and lead Kelsi, I have never done this before so getting very brave!

yayyyy well done you:D:D
And i have you to thank because after your post last night i went and told my hubby that i'm too worried to ride my girl out on the road after last year and asked him if he'd walk with me one weekend:o:) he called me a numpty lol and said of course:D

Yay well done you!!
And yep I sing too, calms my nerves and the horses!
One of my faves to sing is labelled with love by Squeeze, I find it fits with the clip clip of hooves very well :D

yayyyy well done you:D:D

Yes i said i didn't want hubby to know how bad i was feeling. I think because of all the money involved. We have 3, a retired, a baby rescue and the cob. so glad your hubby said yes, mine won't.

Huge Congratulations.
I ususally get caught by walkers or cyclists while singing, I was once singing to my dog 'How much is that lurcher in the window...' and realised there was a group of ramblers the other side of the hedge. The shame!!

Heehee a good one I sing to my little gypsy cob is...
A gypsy pony came over the hill... Etc ;-)

And yep I do end up rather red faced when I pass walkers or gardeners.

OP I feel for you, that your hubby won't walk out with you. Makes me grateful to have my mum or OH who will come with me, walking or cycling when I need them, when exploring new and scary places or whatever cos I have no one else to hack out with.

Thats such good news! :-)
The first step is always the hardest and most scary so now your over that you'll go from strength to strength i'm sure!
I always used to sing too if my mare tensed up in traffic though my song was ALWAYS old macdonald had a farm lol! and could never think of a sensible animal in the moment so ended up singing 'old macdonald had a llama' or something along those lines!!
Good luck with the next hack

Well done. When I get nervous whilst riding I alway sing the most inappropriate song ever - "Humpty Dumpty sat on a Wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall"!!!

Congratulations! I had a heart to heart with hubby today about how bad I feel and he says he is happy to help me - tomorrow i WILL ride too!

what a fabulous post - im seriously going through the colly wobbles at the moment and am looking for inspiring stories - ty for sharing !!!!! :D

Mum sings Hymns - They have a very good steady rythmn to them!
I talk about meal plans for the rest of the week - and make important decisions with Lady's approval.

Enjoy - By the end of summer you will be off exploring without a care - and have such fun!!! :D

Well done! Keep it up it will get easier, my oh was nervous about hacking but is now happy to go with me on foot and has done some bits on his own too (think I was more nervous than him about that in the end!). Sometimes I wish he wasn't getting more confident as we share our horse so it means less riding and more walking for me!

Ooooh yellow submarine is one I haven't used....I think my boy would be glad to hear anything but twinkle twinkle little star :D
