Eventful hack today.
decided to go for a burn out with Red, just round the private hacking at the yard. The route has one tiny lane, basically just an access road, so everything's going fine and we're walking along there when a MASSIVE John Lewis van appears at the end and is reversing up the lane. So I get Red in to the left where there's a verge before an open plan garden. Red is normally brilliant in traffic etc., but the van gets to about 3 metres away and Red decides that it is definitely going to eat him. So guess which direction we go? Galloping right through that open plan garden, weaving through their orchard and between a 1m gap between a huge brick wall and a massive flower bed and end up it the courtyard round the back of the house!
So we finally managed to stop & gave him a minute to get his breath back before walking out, but there were such deep gouge marks in their immaculate lawn - don't think i'll be going back round there for a while! :o

I hope not! I thought that I heard someone knocking on one of the windows, but I had a look round and couldn't see anyone! Haha, just about - no collisions at least! It was really sweet though, a man and his daughter were in a car just down the road from the van, and saw Red bugger off so they came out to look for me and check that I was okay.

I've done that before - going down a road and horse spooked onto someones garden and there were massive hoof marks like a polo game had been played there. I popped round the next day to say sorry with the offer to pay for damages and they said not to worry, but think they were annoyed before I owned up! may be worth just popping over, but maybe I'm the only one who'd be honest!

I'd just be glad someone was honest enough to own up and say sorry if it was my lawn. wouldn't worry about asking for money to pay for the damages - after all, grass grows back! Maybe some choccies or a bottle of wine will sweeten them up a bit!

That's a good idea, and i'm sure you're right about them being glad I owned up - it's just so scary! I can ask them if they want me to tread down the grass too and make it a bit less noticeable. Wish me luck!
