Good riding lessons/instructors in Exeter area??????????

My newphew would like to learn to ride and I was wondering whats available in the Exeter area and the prices.

We need him to become more confident and have fun but learn the "classical" riding not pull to stop and kick to go if you know what I mean. He's got a fantastic natural dressage position and we really want to build on this for him.

id suggest noT oaklands if you sont want him to learn how to nag hes pony,....

theres not many good riding schools near us... budleigh salterton have a good rep, they have a website i think to.
 

Personally I would send him to Penny Hill at Whiddon Down.
She is a super instructor with kids, and takes the time to ensure they have a good grounding.
It's five mins off the A30 so easily accessed, if you want her number pm me, as I can't for the life of me recall the name of her riding school.

I just need to add that I would teach my newphew myself but I'm too far away with petrol prices to pop home two or three times a month.

He is having lessons and really enjoying it. Trouble is they're teaching him to kick to go and pull to stop. Mum has explained to him that this is just to get his confidence up and we don't ride like that normally. (Mum's ponies aren't broken yet).

I'd just rather get him somewhere to ride where they teach correctly so that bad habbits aren't formed! Lucky for us he has penty of common sense and when he's told to kick he squeezes and when he's told to pull he's sitting deeper and closing his fingers. Bless him. Really hope he takes to it, he's so shy and lacking confidence but has a wonderful natural tallent.

I think it may be South Nethercott Farm.
 
Centre for caring horsemanship - on the A3072, about 20 miles from Exeter. You get off the A30 at Whiddon Down (Mortonhampstead, Winkleigh etc) and then turn right after the services (North Tawton, Winkleigh and others I can't remember) and then it's on the right. If you want to avoid the A30 (e.g. summer weekends), you could get the A377 from Crediton to De Bathe Cross and then turn left onto the A3072 (turning away from North Tawton).
