Help please lovely horse and hound forum users. I need to try a new saddler for my mare who has changed shape a lot and is becoming increasingly hollow since being semi retired. I used to use Toni from Tack Haven as she fits a lot of horses from yards I have been at (and they have never had a problem) but the saddle she gave me (and said fitted fine) caused a heap of back problems and was an appalling fit (told by an instructor, physio and vet!). I then used Alice Nuttgens who gave me a great saddle which fitted fine until she came out of work and changed shape and I noticed it rubbed far back and had been slipping (to the point where when tacking up, even with saddle pad on you could see the rub marks behind her rib cage) I got Alice back out and she I thought was quite blasé and told me it fitted perfectly, which it obviously doesn't seeing as it slips back 2 - 3 inches even with the breastplate done tight!
I asked my vet to recommend one but even he was like "let me know if you ever find a good one".
I know each has their good and their bad, some people who love them and others that won't touch but I really need someone who is maybe experienced in older horses with bad backs and who are hollowing... Thank you :)

I will second that. Laura from Bridlepath sorted my (flat-backed, low withered short-coupled!) horse ...first with one well fitting saddle (which I did not get on with) and then managed to find another saddle that fitted beautifully!

My youngster was initially a little uncertain about the whole process and Laura took ages over the fitting...she really was so careful about getting it right, and kind with the horse.

It is really important for me (as a monumentally hugely overly-protective owner :o ) to have a professional who not only knows their business, but who also has a really good way with my horse.

Anyhow, my experience of Bridlepath has been great.

Hope this helps.
