Having just purchased a youngster I am keen to get his saddle checked. When I got on him last Sunday I felt like I was sitting on his ears and he bucked, clearly not happy. As soon as I put my Prolite pad on he was happy and I felt much better.

I did call my usual saddler (Mark Fisher) to come out but unfortunately he can't come out until September and I am keen to get the youngster sorted as soon as possible.

I am looking for other master saddlers in the Cambridgeshire area who people have had a good experience with. Any suggestions?

I used to use Bridlepath but know someone who didnt get on with so well when they came to fit a dressage saddle and both of my horses are ridden in dressage saddles so I am a little reluctant to use them.

i can highly recommend Malcolm at West Essex Saddlery (they cover the Cambridgeshire area) did a fantastic job fitting Ted explained everything very well and more than happy to answer any questions, funny old man but brilliant at his job. PM me if you'd like their number

and she does have obvious withers and knew to keep in my budget. xx

Another vote for Malcolm - he managed to fit a very round flat backed cob and was only saddler that managed to get a saddle to stay in place, and has just been great getting a special order dressage saddle for my new, and equally challenging to fit horse!

Another vote for Bridlepath. My mare was difficult to fit and went through 3 well known saddlers who could not find something to fit. Was recommended bridlepath on here and last week bought a saddle that fitted us both. Best of all it was second hand even though I was prepared to buy new if necessary. Cant recommend enough.

And yet another vote for Bridlepath. Fitted four horses on our yard some of which were dressage saddles. Each and every horse hsa shown a much improved way of going with their refitted/new saddles.

woolcroft saddler mark fisher i think he is master saddler, had 20 + yrs with household cavalry and was saddler to olmpic team but is FAB. loads of saddles too both second hand and new. he has a web site.

I will give Bridelpath a call.

Scribble, I normally use Mark Fisher but he cant fit me in until September and my new youngster needs seeing before then.

I'm tempted to wait until September (it is only a few weeks away) as the youngster is beginning to look like he may start muscling up.

I have a prolite pad under his saddle at the mo and he appears to be happy.
