Good saddler midlands?

I need a new saddle urgently, I have thought of buying one from Saddle Co but thought it might be more straightforward to get a saddler to come out and see us. It would need to be one that could fit for a very wide backed cob.

Any recommendations or people to avoid greatfullyt received.

I use Martin wilkinson, he is very good and seems to have a bit of everything, im in northamptonshire but it depends where in the middle you are???

Hate Townfields with a passion - their supposed great saddler damaged my horse so badly it took 12 months to get him right. They sold me a saddle that was made on the skew, then compounded it by flocking it appallingly when they came out to check it. When asked for help - they told me where to go. Customer service was appalling and I had spent a fortune on my saddle.

Not keen on Townfields either, had several saddles from them in the past and none fitted !!

Always use George at Dosthill Saddlery, spends a lot of time assessing horse and rider, never been disappointed.

He is really down to earth and he made me a beautiful saddle for a pony built like a bus 8 yrs ago ... its still as good as the day it was made.
He is more than a saddle fitter ..he is a proper saddler who trains other saddlers.

I use Barry Barker from Wolverhampton. He is very good, spent hours with me the first time he came out, and I tried about 8 different saddles before deciding on the Ideal H&C saddle. My mare has big shoulders, no withers and could seat 8 for dinner on her back.

He always leaves you with a saddle whilst yours is being re-flocked too.

I've heard that Tower Farm Saddlers are good but have not used them personally for saddles but get other horsey bits from them. They have shops in Rugby and Northampton

Can highly recommend Sue Carson's saddles (Nr Ashbourne, Derbyshire but she has people everywhere)- if you have the budget for one as they are bloomin expensive. I bought one last month and I have never looked back!!! Can't recommend enough!!!!
