Hello, I’m hoping for some advice on supplements/ feed for my mare.

She’s a 15hh, 10 year old, thoroughbred who is a generally happy, healthy girly but struggles to keep condition. She also gets very flaky skin alongside always eering *just* on the light side weight-wise.

She has bags of energy (if a bit *too* much!) so anything heating is out.
Would love to get any recommendations for supplements/ feed etc that people have had good experiences with?

My 5yr old tb is on calm and condition (Allen & page), Lucie cobs (Simple system), and unmollassed beet and is putting on weight after dropping loads over the winter (2 moves, the freezing weather and a virus!) is looking better every day and not trying to kill me every time I ride!!!

My 16 h petite tb is on c and c as well.I also feed fast fibre as most things heat her up.You wont need supplement on c and c it has priobiotics (sp:rolleyes:) and all added vits.

Baileys lo cal balancer works really well with my TB. It's lower in starch then other balancers and not stupidly high in protein (I dont agree with feeding too much protein).
He looks a million dollars on it. It's really helped him. In the winter he had 3 mugs per day with 2 scoops of HIFI and a scoop of fibre nuts and a mug of veg oil split into two feeds.

Now he is out on good grass 24/7 he just has 1 mug morning and night mixed with a handful of HIFI
and a splash of apple cider vinegar (to keep flys away).

It works out cheaper then other supplements as it's only £19 a bag and lasts 6 weeks in winter, works out cheaper then pink powder.

Thank you, that's very helpful :). Am planning to put her on Blue Chip for a while as I've had good results with that with other horses, but really useful to see what others are feeding similar types.
