Ok instead of moaning and whining, lets try and think of some positive things resulting from this rather chilly weather we're having. Here goes....

- my ponio is lovely and white and fluffy
- no mud fever
- i can walk around Sainsburys without looking out of place - everyone is wearing wellies and joggy botoms and big hairy fleeces!
- the countrside is so beautiful

Come on, there must be more good things!

^^^^ as above, but as I am now moving into the 5th week of not being able to ride or get horses out the yard I reserve the right to bah humbug ths weather!

A clean horse.
No mud.
Everything looks pretty.
I can't get to the shops so I can't spend money.
We have a mint sledging field in our village.
And the best....6 snow days off work so far!!!! Yeah!!!!

except when the pooh is frozen to the stable floor when horse has wee weed and its froze by morning!!!
My Irish draught loves this snow and cold, he is a sweaty boy otherwise, and he looks good in his new rambo rug.

Agree with these. Love how clean it makes the horses and love that I can live in my comfiest horsey clothes (jeans, Dubarry boots with the furry liners, big horsey jacket with a hat etc.).

no mud :D

enforced time off keeping her fit etc and don't have to feel guilty :)

no mud:D

shoes off so cheap farrier visit today :)

no mud :D

hard feed cut back as in no work so saving there too :)

no mud :D

ummm... thats it ;)

The best thing... the snow, by far!! A snowy Christmas is just about the best thing ever! We'll also have snowy hacks when oh is off work for Christmas, what could be more magical than that! Am loving the lack of mud (though grubby grey mare is making up for it by getting masses of stable stains and pooing in her tail - urgh!). Also loving that everyone is going round in wellies, I don't stand out so much now!

I love that I look more townie than a townie when I go shopping now :D that is to say that when I picked up my turkey today, I was the only person not wearing wellies or about 15 layers! (mostly because I had to change out of my stinky wet clothing!)

It looks very pretty
There is no mud, no rain, no wind
I actually blend in wearing wellies to the shops
We get to muck out onto yard/into digger bucket...much easier than throwing onto the ever growing muck heap!

Oh yes - love the clean horses and clean wellies

Also love the walking round supermarket in wellies and not having to change

Not looking forward to the thaw!!!

don't boast - my ass has doubled in size since the snow as no cycling to see her every day and no riding :(
i am a *****land in human form :(

yes well my clothes do feel tighter due to the distinct lack of exercise and I had already piled on the pounds since I started celebrating xmas about 2 months ago but its nice to see I 've levelled out now with all the shivering! Either that or my scales have frozen!

my scales battery has just died..... so i'm not going to worry about it until either i can't do my jeans up or the temp goes above 0'C ;)

im getting tonnes of use out of my new waterproof trousers....well practically living in them as the snow is deeper than my wellies!

went to tescos to do xmas shop with OH in sed waterproofs, wellies and a knitted hat with penguins on and he didnt dis-own me :-D !!!!!

can only drive a bit of the way to yard so am having to do lots of trudging across fields and tracks of deep snow.....good for the thighs....well it would be if i wasnt constantly hungry due to the cold/said trudging/time of year!

when i got back to work on 3rd jan, i wi have had 19 days off work :-D

no mud

cards delivered, presents wrapped, presents bought, etc etc and its not even xmas eve yet!!

I suppose one good thing is normally if its just peeing down/very windy, I will be the saint and get on with it. When its rock solid like this, I dont feel guilty one bit!

Good things?

I'm as fit as a fiddle with biceps like a gorilla from shovelling blimmin snow, ditto abs, tho' rest of me totally f'ing knackered!

Horse (piebald) - all his white bits are nice and, er, white, and stay that way.

Yard covered with snow so no-one can see the bits of straw etc we haven't swept up properly.

Can go around dressed up like Michelin man and no-one notices if you're fat or not.

Don't need to bother with leg-wax (ooooooohhhhh :O) coz no-one will see it under unsexy thermals!

Nice excuse to have a nip of the Sloe Gin in advance of Boxing Day meet!

I am bonding so much with Donovan as he is on restricted turnout so spending much more time with him in his stable, grooming and playing.

Ron is extra friendly in the hope that it's me that caused the snow (to take away the grass) and that therefore I'll melt it again. He's also started grooming me back when I scratch his withers for him! :D

Tom is actually clean for once, and because all the taps are frozen he can't turn them on and soak his bed!!

both boys are content to go out for a couple of hours and then put them selves to bed once they're bored.

even a 15 minute stroll round the village seemed like an epic ride after 4 weeks without any!

no mud, or mud fever, or endless removing of mud from tack/boots/clothes!

I reckon a lot of us are going to be practically Olympic fit by the end of January if this goes on. Lugging bales and water containers miles over fields I've taken taken inches off my waist, my arms and my legs. Carrying the Xmas shopping was like nothing today, I positively flew round the supermarket, I felt like superwoman. Oh....and...no mud!
