bless the little bay newfie i bought at the sale last week, Scrumpy Jack...

his hair was, literally, 3 inches long ALL over his body, he had bald patches and empty lice egg pods....he was sweating and a little grouchy...so..

whipped out the clippers, and took the lot off!!!!

except his legs and head...

he stood like a rock..and what was underneath well, i was half expecting a family of illegal Romanians to ask for Benefits at one point!

i clipped, my friend brushed....it all came away like matted sheep wool... everything came away ok,except the area where his sale sticker was, which is actually stuck to his skin!!!
massaged a good amount of baby oil to soften up the glue..hopefully it will come away in the next few days
little chap went out for the night with the rest with a littl spring in his step!!

he's down on the list for a tea tree bath on saturday....

TBH, He looks like those "rescue" cases on Animal Hospital..the ones that have had the matted fur clipped off!!!

Bless...

Awwww what a good boy! Certainly a good start if he's as well behaved as that at such a young age! I love the name Scrumpy Jack too

If the skin is not broken, try spraying the glue with window cleaner. It works a treat. My cat got a sticker off some new furniture stuck on her, and someone suggested this to me. Somehow it breaks down the glue and I just combed it out!

the skin under the sticker/glue was very "angry"...so i may just leave it till Saturday....

i'll keep that tip in mind, though..thanks.

The lice seem to be terrible down here this year. My darling beautiful pampered (and fat) grey boy had the damn critters all over him which I noticed after I'd bathed him on Saturday. Cue a quick sprint to Scats before it shut, only to find they'd sold out of Deosect. Luckily I knew my friend had some so I borrowed some of hers instead. Goodness only knows where he picked them up from, I think it must be from the deer who've been grazing our fields at night when the ponies are in. I was sort of tempted to not treat them, they are supposed to be the worst (best?) thing for making ponies lose condition!

Is that Sway Scrumpy Jack you bought? If so I used to see him peeping over the fence in his field up the road from us watching the world go by.... He looked rather cute.
