Needing a horse vetted near Caven.
Have looked on the goresbridge sales list of vets ect but personal recommendations are always preferred!

Do you mean Cavan? Cavan in Ireland?

I would highly recommend my own vet but he is in Westmeath but comes up to me in Cavan, I think it depends where in Cavan and when?
Yes, sorry spellchecker told me it was an e not an a! H12 just outside Cavan

Ah right, well that might be a bit too far away for him as I am right at the bottom end of Cavan and nowhere near Cavan town, but have you looked on the vet's list for the Cavan Horse Sales Centre? I cannot personally recommend any of them as the only two I have ever used are a fair distance away and outside the area, but I would say if the sale's centre accept their vet certs. they must be reputable. 🤷‍♀️

Thankyou, yes looked at the list but so many was hoping may have a recommendation. I used a vet from Ratoath in 2020 (probably the wrong spelling!)who was great but they are distance away.

Yes it is a bit odd that there doesn't seem to be any on there actually in county Cavan, as I know there are several equine vets in the area but I couldn't say if they are any good or not. I see Mark Fagan of Crooked Wood is on there, a few years back my friend and I had to shove her very small mini into the back of my little jeep on a Sunday to rush it down there as it had a very nasty eye injury and he was the only one we got a response from. I have to say he was very good and very thorough and I don't recall the bill was too horrendous either and little mini kept its eye. Might be worth giving him a ring. Here is his FB page.

Lisadell is excellent and only about an hour from Cavan town

You could also ring Cavan equestrian centre and ask for a recommendation that they use

I believe Fagan are the owners vet. Is it definitely a no go to use their vet?
Bonus being any history would be disclosed, but maybe a conflict of interest.

Hmmm, I think it is not considered best practice and although I am sure he is very reputable it could still be a conflict of interest couldn't it? Personally I wouldn't use the same vet anyway. Perhaps worth asking Lisadell as suggested by MissMay but although I have used them in the past as a hospital for further work ups etc. (They were great by the way) I was not aware they send vets out to do vettings, although I guess they would if the horse was taken to them in Navan. Always worth asking them though.
