This is nothing but a pity post!
I have just got my youngster back from being brought back into work after having a few months off - He was backed in July/August ridden until November and then had some downtime.
I have had him home since Wednesday and due to lack of facilities and the terrible weather he hasn't worked.

I plan to hack this evening - trailer him out to some nearby forestry - I have ridden him there before.

I am sat at my desk near to tears pooing my pants at the thought of it so please call boot me up the bum and tell me to get on with it

I did it!! Flew solo...hitched up, loaded, tacked up and hacked in howling wind for about 40 mins. Go me and my super pony :p:p

Well done you! and super baby pony! and welcome to the forum!

I'm feeling the same. I sat on mine last year a few times, but until last weekend hadn't sat on him since September. My nemesis is mounting. the bit between foot in stirrup and bum in saddle, (due to previous horse not standing to be mounted - my fault but that is another story!) so as you can imagine it causing some apprehension with riding (cause you sort of need to mount to actually ride :p). But last weekend I sat on both babies (Reg for the first time) and the ground work has paid off. They both stood like stone at the mounting block/steps!!! It makes you feel amazing when you actually do it and things fall into place doesn't it.

The weather hinders progress at the moment - I'm not fighting with a baby who wants to turn his bum into the weather when it's awful. IMHO the training at this early stage needs to be fun so they want to learn.

In Competition and training is a 3/4 year old thread which is really interesting and good for support if that of interest to you.
