hi guys, I'm staying with my Mum in Portugal at the moment
smile.gif
she has a lovely yellow lab called Dave he's about 11 years old, he's been fine up till now but yesterday he couldn't stand up, he was staggering about like he was drunk and finally fell over, he got up afterwards and seemed fine but later on when we took him for a walk he sat down and seemed unable to get back up again very easily. We took him home and he layed down on his bed and hasn't moved since, he won't eat and we are syringing water in to his mouth as he willnot drink from his bowl

My mum has a brilliant vet but he's away till tonight, she has left him several messages and has no doubt that as soon as he's back he will be here.

Please send all your wonderfull HHO vibes to Portugal please my Mum will be devastated if anything happens to Dave, her other lab Lucy died not long ago too.

thanks xxx

Well it's not looking good for Dave, the vet is away until tomorrow night now so Mum has taken him to a different vet, they are there now.
He seemed to be having difficulty breathing and was wheezing quite badly. We had to carry him to the car as he can't get up at all.

The vet phoned just now, he is much better this morning and has been out for a short walk. His breathing is still bad so they are doing a chest x-ray today and are waiting for the blood test results to come back tomorrow.

So we are waiting for another phone call.....

keeping everything crossed for him, even my hubby couldn't sleep last night as he was worrying about him so much, bless xx

Chest x-ray showed his heart is enlarged to nearly 4x the size of normal, the x-ray also showed up a large shadow/growth in his throat which has pushed the trachea up which is why he keeps coughing.
He has been referred to another vet and he's going there today to have an ultrasound scan and ECG.
The vet mentioned congenital heart failure yesterday and said it's not going to be easy in the future. We will see what the other tests show up then decide on which course of action to take.
Dave stayed at the vets again last night on a drip, but is much brighter this morning.
