Goodbye Confidence (Belle bucked me off)

Interesting that the vet thought it may be because she is in season, I guess that may make sense and I magnesium can work well.

When you get back on, don't be too brave too quickly!! Maybe try lunging her first and then sitting across her back, almost as if you were backing her and see what her reaction is before sitting on her?

Good luck and hope it all works out.

Can I be blunt? You might love her but you can't have fun with her and at the end of the day, she is a working animal. This other lady sounds like she can love her just as much as you. Belle has been a challenge from the beginning and life is too short to be upset over a hobby that is meant to be fun. I'm speaking as a nervous rider myself. If you find yourself worrying about riding last thing at night before you go to sleep then you should lend her to this lady. At least with a loan you can take her back if it does not turn out to be the home you thought it would be.

Exactly this! you probably remember the dramas i had with my last horse paddy, i loved him dearly and i still miss him so much, i passed him on nearly a year ago as i (and the rest of my family) just couldnt enjoy my riding. I love hacking/exploring etc he wouldnt hack alone. if i was riding in the school and anyone happened to move a horse he would go bezerk. I wanted to keep persevering, but in the end i just had to admit i wasnt having fun and really had to work out wether i should just give up riding altogether!
I had a gap for about 6 weeks then got the mare i have now. And i have to admit i am so glad i decided that paddy just wasnt for me. He is now with someone who has the time, confidence to work with him and now i can hack, school and generally have a good time on my mare and my family dont worry about me whatever i do.
personally, i think you have done the hard bit by admitting that she just isnt the horse that you set out to get.
if you know this woman and know that it would be in Belles interests then it really may be the best thing all round.
Give you a couple of months to work out wether you really miss riding her (you will miss her like i miss paddy....but i dont miss the daily challenge!!) or wether you definately think she is the wrong horse and would be happy with a horse more suited to you.
Good luck whatever you decide. Its a horrid position to be in and i fully sympathise with you. But your hobby has to be something you enjoy. xx
