Well, it's been a funny old kind of few weeks. We said goodbye to the lovely Clover who is now enjoying seagull spotting on the beach with the equally lovely Kitsune. Still miss her brown velvet muzzle and wet kisses...Clover that is!

But, takes deep breath, our biggie wrench was Jack the superstar heading to Ireland to be a schoolmaster for a friend. (Coals to Newcastle anyone? :D). He has settled in well but we're missing his saintly presence and demands for bananas already.. Saffy better step up to the plate and be the "big track" pony, but we'll see... A photo of Jack, my favourite, who has a home there for life or he'll be back to us

Can't have teenage son spending the day in bed playing computer games so to keep him out of mischief he has two new partners in crime to produce. Darko (I know :( ) is a 16hh 6yo grey mare by VLD Ard Douglas (Darco) and has SJAI points and WH successes under her belt.

This is her father... jumping a car... as you do?? Huge scope but uncomfortable viewing IMO.. http://primaequestrian.com/news.php?nid=256

We took her to a local unaff SJ at the weekend which turned out to be pretty busy as trailblazers second rounds but she was perfectly behaved and popped round the 85cms for a pleasing and rhythmic dc.

She was accompanied to the show by Ace who is also trying to work out why he is now with people who talk funny :) He's 16.2hh, 4yo and comes from his breeder. His mother, by former irish national champ Hermes de Reve, is jumping at 1.30+ level and his paternal grandfather was a Grade A so he *should* jump. He proved that by taking part around this enormous and testing track on Sat..

We were delighted as he was super chilled in the ring and warmup and not remotely interested in any lurking horse eating monsters. In fact, he was so horizontal that he had a little snooze...zzzzz....

So, delighted with new irish people and then friend asked son to pop her lovely event mare around the 1.05 and, 3 mins after first riding her, they won the class :)

We'd had a good weekend the one before as well, as Saffy decided to be cooperative at her first outdoor show on grass for a minor placing, having come second in a shoys 1.10 qualifier the weekend before, her first show back after an abscess. Better get practising open water with Newcomers 2nd round on the horizon....or should I just stand back with the video camera and enjoy a very loud teenage SPLASH?? :D :D

Fabby report :) thankyou for posting and keeping me entertained as it's blowing a gale outside and keeping me awake!! Ace looks.... Ace :p what a pop! Can't wait to see how he turnes out, darco also looks like a v smart pony :) goodby jack ( waving) and good luck I'n ur new home I'm sure u will make ur new owner v happy :D. And I'm sure saffy will step up to the Mark and show the world what little guys can do if they have a big heart. All the best xx

Ooh whereabouts over here has Jack gone....i'll prob see him out & about at some stage! Your new Irish people look lovely...used to have Douglas in the yard and he was cool!!

MEASLES!!! I so thought it was you and your son, i was at snec to on the coloured horse!! I coudnt decide whether to introduce myself or not but i wasnt 100% sure it was you guys and i thought if it wasnt you would look at me very strangely calling myself Applestroodle!! ;) Your mare was lovely!! :D

What lovely new Irish ponies :) Have been admiring their pics on FB! Hope you and A have a fab time with them, and we'll see you at some baby BSJA stuff soon :)

applestroodle - I also initially thought it was you but did you not have a coloured horse with a different name? Loved your boy (girl?) and isn't it weird that I chatted to him and stroked his nose but we've not spoken?! Are you at KB tonight or tomorrow eve?

Laramy80 - Ace is Ripley's taller twin brother so they should def meet up :) Let me know your plans and we'll try and make sure we meet up. :) :)

He he you did speak to him Measles im very sorry i wasnt braver!! He is called Magic but i think my handwriting must have been a bit rubbish on saturday as snec called him Magil (i couldnt be bothered to go change!!) lol!!
Not at kb to far for me, would love to as thats what we need lots of practise but takes me already about and hour and 15 mins to get to snec. Good luck to you and your son!! :) Im sure i will see you out and about again very soon! :)

Lovely report, sad to see Jack go but it sounds like he will have a lovely time in his new home :) Really like both your new ones you definately have a great eye for a horse. Which NC 2nd rounds are you going to do with Saffy? Seen as you are at the other end of Great Britain to me probably not the same ones!!

Oooh I LIKE Darko! Wonder if we could do a Bonzo/Darko switch at Newmilns, bet I could twist A's arm... baby looks very sweet also. Had to laugh at the thought of the teenage splash, you're a bad mummy!

LOVE LOVE LOVE DARKO!!! Which is bad ;) Sad about Jack but i bet his new home will love him as much as you did :) Well done at snec :)
Are you going to Ingilston this Sun?
Q

Countrychic - thanks :)

Quadro - sending father & son as I have other fish to fry - had hoped to get to Ireland this weekend and also just realised I am meant to be doing the Race for Life this Sunday.. Oops! More like Shuffle for Life, or Hirple for Life...!

Lovely new ponies. Sad to see Jack go, but fantastic that he is doing his job for another lucky person! Thank you for the photo's, they've given me my jumping fix, as I was meant to be out with madam today, but she's come in looking like she's bneen punched in the eye... so am waiting for the vet instead. Great  Look forward to more updates!

You have a great eye for a good horse. Both babies are very nice. Sad about Jack but he'd done his job for you and it's lovely that someone else will now learn on him.

Good luck! Will need a comp report from you then and pics of course ;) ! You will need to bring Darko to a show so i can have a good look at her ;)

Ooh I really like Darco, so my type of horse. Humm, how to sneak her this way, without the OH knowing!

Pleased Jack has found a lovely new home where he can enjoy teaching someone else the higher levels, although must be sad for you.

MORE lovely horses. You do have a fabulous eye. (Or we just like the same types . . . which amounts to the same thing. ;) )

Sad for you about Jack but it's great to see horses like him handed on to teach someone new - it's what they're good at and what makes them so valuable in many ways! I'm sure he'll enjoy being the Big Horse again and having new people to fawn over him. :)

Your son makes a 16.2 look about 14.2!! So tall.

The new ones are lovely, I'm a sucker for a nice grey!

Sad to see Jack go but at least he will doa good job for someone else :)

Sounds like Saffy is going good to, Newomers 2nd rounds hold some VERY wet memories for my horses to haha. Just think, hanging the breeches out the lorry window to dry as you have no spares and have 3 more horses to jump!!!!

LOVE your new grey darko neddy, please package and post him to cheshire please... saying that combine postage and send both your newbies! lol!

Both lovely and just to way the balance I will say I like Ace! (vote maybe tainted by our own naughty grey mare this morning):D

Sorry to hear Jack has gone off to a new home I didn't know that was on the cards, but lucky them :)

Looking forward to many more reports :)

Ohhh some more lovely horses, mind you if your usual record is anythig to go by they won't stay long  Sorry that Jack has gone I know he will be much missed but banannas?? :o

Look forward to seeing the new bunch progress.

Thanks, all :) We owe Jack a lot and it's great that he has a super home. Our weekly outgoings will drop dramatically now we don't have to bulk buy bananas! That said, do you think there might be a correlation between jumping ability and banana consumption? I ask as A's (very, very much) outgrown 13.2hh JA pony who is currently mowing our fields for us would sell her soul for a mouthful of banana. And grapes...and cherries...
