Today I have lost my first pony, that I have had for 17yrs. She was such a character, feisty little dartmoor pony that took me here, there and everywhere. I first found her tied in a standing stall at a farm, I started riding her as a child, and developed a strong bond. However she was then sold without my knowledge...as a child's pony- which didn't last long as she bombed off with the kids Which fortunately meant her being returned to the farm. I begged my father to buy her for me, which he did, he knew as well as i did that we were meant to be together.
From then I grew to a teenager and she helped me through many good and bad days, we competed at local level, did some sponsored rides, lots of hacking and she loved her work- bombing off with me at any opportunity!!
Sadly with age brought issues- laminitis, cushings and metabolic syndrome- although I continued riding her till just a few months ago.
I will never forget her, and I thank you now Heidi for all those fantastic memories. Please raise a glass to my darling pony if you read this xx
