I am absolutely devestated after my ex racer passed away a few days ago. I won't go into details but we had come so far and I had so much planned. It is an absolute shock - I don't know what I will do without him and I am sure as anyone who has lost a horse knows, it is like losing your best friend. It is so hard to believe everything happens for a reason when something like this comes along. I know he is out there though and he deserves nothing less than a pain free existance where he can run forever. It is killing me just talking about him - I cannot believe I will never see his sweet face again apart from in my memories and dreams. I know I will find him again though. Run free gorgeous. x
 
Those of us who have been there know exactly how you are feeling. Your pain does get easier to bear and you will remember all the good times. Stay strong but don't be afraid to show your grief as it is part of the healing process.
 
I'm so sorry, losing my boy is still the worst thing that even happened to me some 5 years ago now but it does get easier eventually

This song came on the radio when I was driving home after it all happened makes me sad but I think its great and can just see them flying high!!

A little piece of your heart gets ripped away...time doesn't completely heal but it helps. Keep a memento it does help years later. So sorry for you, but have a good hug and cry..... it helps.
 
I'm so sorry for your loss..The heartbreak and loss you feel now will slowly pass over time and be replaced with such fond memories.My heart goes out to you.This little poem still makes me weep after losing horses and dogs.But it also gives me hope that it is what will happen one day...


Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
 
It is hard to make sense of it when you lose them suddenly and you just love them so much. I wish they could all live forever.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
 
They leave an enormous void, and it's very hard to find this "reason" that is talked about. SO very sorry about your loss.
