Yesterday afternoon colic claimed the life of my beautiful boy. He was 29 years old and I loved him so much.
Goodbye my beautiful boy, I shall miss you so much. Your lovely black head over the stable door in the morning, your deep, gentle whicker of greeting. The way you would mug me for a mint. You knew exactly which pocket they were in!
Murphy, my cob, your friend for the last 10 years will miss your attempts to get him to play the "stick game", and your trying to get him to play, when all he wanted to do was eat!
You were the kindest, gentlest horse, yet you had that little fiery edge, that made you a winning racehorse in your day. You could gallop like the wind, and look so beautiful doing it.
You were intelligent, wise and so, so handsome, and my life seems very empty now without you. I feel so priviledged to have known you and loved you.
You tried so hard to stay with me, but I could see the pain in your eyes, and I knew I had to let you go. You went peacefully under a shady tree on soft grass, and looked just like you were asleep. My vet was wonderful, and treated you with such care and dignity.
So, Goodbye my beautiful Merry Measure, my heart is breaking, but you are now pain free and running with your dear friend Sal again. Till we meet again. I love you and always will.
