Having arranged to do our first road hack today, I was determined not to be beaten by the weather... So when Bruce's sharer text ' still on for 11am?" I replied "yep" full of determination but thinking "really I would rather eat snails"!

I need not have got the snails ready... He was foot perfect and didn't give us a moments worry despite howling wind and generally ignorant drivers. Massive thanks to NMT for walking in the road and forcing people to slow down (and massive swear words for the woman who continued to drive until her bumper was touching NMT and then demanded to know why she had to slow down  )

I have a super cool dude of a 3yo :) More of the same next weekend for Goof and Bruce (who was his usual superstar self bless him).

And Fig! Fig has been playing the hooligan in the field... He slipped over a fortnight ago and gave himself a huge hematoma next to his tail on his left butt cheek, and was so sore he was dragging his left hind and basically planted himself in one place in the stable! (but no heat, swelling, cut etc and vet advice was just to box rest as they couldn't scan until he had been rested anyway).

So... A week of box rest (which he took to very well actually) with lots of hand walks and then introducing some walking in the school (2 birds with 1 stone as great for Goof to work around other horses).

He went back out in the field last weekend, and of course gave me a total heart attack by launching round and nearly falling over again. Poor Mr Bruce was moved field twice to try and help settle him. Seems to have done the trick and he is pretty chilled once more.

I got on on Friday feeling 100% confident that he was fine physically. But also 100% confident that he was going to be blooming sharp! Yep. Closest I've come to falling off in a longggggg time thanks to the biggest buck I've ever sat!

I stretched him quickly yesterday and today also, and he has felt softer and more supple each time.

We've got a lesson in 2 weeks, then come December will get our Summer Regionals at Adv Med nailed and get back to polishing the changes ready for our Advanced debut :)

Well done for getting out on your hack today it was blowing a gail shame about the ar*e hole drivers but it seems to be the normal these days, glad fig is on the mend they do love to scare you half to death with there antics don't they, your horses always look so smart and clean, mine just look like mud monsters at the moment.

Fig a silly naughty boy!!!!

Goofy was much better behaved today than Fig is as an 11yo lol!!!

1/4 sheets are thermatex, best price to buy direct from them :)

Drivers like that make me so angry, particularly as you were doing the right things with with hi-vis and having someone one foot. Well done Goof for dealing with it so well!

Good to read that Fig is doing well too :)
