Afternoon :)

I have a GoPro Hero 4 and a head strap which I (when I remember to charge it and take it to the yard!) wear on my riding hat. Horse has quite a low head carriage naturally and find that I have to point the camera right down at an angle, otherwise you can't even see his ears!

I've been offered a space in a lorry to go on a 10 mile fun ride next month which I'd obviously love to take the GoPro on, and it's got me thinking, would a chest mount be better?

Has anyone used the chest mount and what are your thoughts? Is the view good and does it look sturdy/not bouncy?

Whilst on the subject, has anyone with a GoPro bought the additional battery pack and used it on a head/chest mount? Looking into this also, not sure the battery would last the whole ride!

Thanks :)

I have a go pro and head strap and so long as I make sure it's at the right angle before I get on I think it's great. If you get the app on your phone you can check what you're filming. Personally I wouldn't go for a chest mount, to me it's not a realistic view, and the horses head and neck and your arms tend to get in the way.

I use mine on my helmet and think it's the best view.

Though i'd be interested in hearing peoples thoughts for chest strap - for some comps you can't use one on your helmet so I'm considering getting a chest strap (not that i compete really but thought it might be a rule some fun rides/park rides might impose???)

Everybody else's views from the head strap seem to be great but the bleedin pony manages to dip himself out of view haha or when I dip the camera down as far as it will go to get a better view of his ears, it's a limited view of what's in front of us or just looks like I'm looking at the floor!

Gypley I can't seem to watch your video, not sure if it's down to privacy settings?

I had thought that having it on your chest wouldn't make for such good filming, exactly for the reasons of arms getting in the way and not sure it would be as sturdy looking as a head strap. Can pick one up for about £25 in Argos (half the price of the ones on GoPro website??) so might just give it a go!

Might be worth a shot if your pony carries his head that low! Another thing is I've seen people alter the chest straps so the camera sits more on your shoulder than on your chest which might be a good option for you. No idea how they do it though!
