Goresbridge Elite Event Horse Sale, Nov 11th

I went into the Goresbridge website, and found the section "Sales results". Nothing. I then 'phoned their office, to see if there was, in-fact a listing of the results, and was told that they never publish the prices which they achieve.

Why? Surely, it would encourage others to use their excellent facilities.

Call me a conspiracy nut but i suspect it is because of the number of lots taken home unsold or sold in the carpark which cant be claimed by goresbridge, plus the average sales prices this year have been fairly poor.
If you were thinking about going down and had a look at previous sales and returns you might stay at home.

The irish field does a comprehensive sales reports section detailing:
lots
vendors
breeding if any
puchaser
price
If you can get your hands on a copy. The elite event horse sale is detailed in this weeks.

There are times, in life, wigum, when the words conspiracy and cynicism, can both be argued, as being realistic!!

I've looked at The Irish Field, and found that it is offered as a "paper" and as a "magazine". I'd be interested to take out an annual subscription, but at 260 euros? NO!!

Livestock have always been sold in the lorry park, and those who take part in this practice, only have themselves to blame, when the market place, folds. If we don't support our auctioneers, then we lose them, and the market place, goes with them.

I've ordered a copy of "this week's" magazine, from our local newsagents, so we'll see what happens!

As previously stated Irish Field has a report and figures. However, often some of the high price achievers are "buy backs", difficult to sell horses in car park at Cavan and Goresbridge as monitored, documentation etc. A good few "bumpers" bidding too on occasion!!!

Sometimes the owner puts the horse on the market and has someone else bid it up in price effectively buying their own horses to artificially inflate the price give a stallion a good rep etc.

My local newsagents 'phoned me back yesterday, and told me that individual copies of the Irish Field were not available. So that seems to be the end of that. Bugger, but hardly the end of the world!

If you pm me with an email address and I still have the copy (must be in back of jeep somewhere!) I will scan the Goresbridge report and email to you,

we buy foals at Goresbridge every October and there are many dubious deals going one which is very frustrating when you go to buy animals legitimately. A favorite practice appears to be buy the horse outside the ring BEFORE it goes through and the vendor then pops an unachievable reserve on it to ensure pre-arranged deal goes ahead - we have been offered this deal many times...and always decline! On the flip side this yr 3 of our purchases were bought outside the ring at the end of the day but we booked them all through the office - expensive but right.
