Goresbridge

I have not actually been myself, but i have bought a horse through the sales and had no problems.
I had a look through the online catalogue, picked a few out that i like the sound of, then put my trust in the hands of my instructor who was in Ireland at the time.
All the horses had to pass a vetting before the sale and again on completion of the sale. There is a course of jumps set up so you can watch and try horses over the course before they are auctioned.
Good if you know what your looking for and want to see a lot of horses in one day. Shipping and transport to the UK was very simple too.

I've bought a couple there. Early and late lots tend to be cheaper lots with the odd problem. Its best to go and have a look and see for yourself, its relatively cheap to get there and you get your flight back if you buy a horse.

The horses are shown in the outside rings, but you can't ride them, you can ask lots of questions but many are sent to "producers" to show off at the sales so you may not get much history.

I went a couple of times before I bought, its a fantastic opportunity to look at lots of different horses.

It is a great way to see a lot of different horses at a time.
I sold a foal at Goresbridge 4yrs ago and the owner who lives in the UK contacted me a few months ago to say how he was doing and she hopes to aim him at Burghley for The Young Event Horse class next year.It was really good of her to contact me and she is keeping me updated with progress.Especially useful as it is the mares first foal so I am eager to see what he is made of.

Buzz came to me Via Goresbridge but after doing some detective work i found out he was sold out side of the ring,

Steelydan,Ross competes up to 1.30 possibly more I think and his Boss Linda rides the more experienced horses.I have this siggy pic as I went to see Ballyshan Arkansas compete and represent Ireland which was an amazing experience.Linda now owns him and Ross was riding as Linda had just had a baby.he is a really careful and commited rider as far as I can see.

I went to Goresbridge to buy a horse and it was brilliant and I would highly recommend it. I would just say try not to get over excited and spend more than you intended! Be really firm with yourself and set yourself a maximum you will spend and DON'T go over it!

As someone else has said, if you do buy a horse you will get your travel costs refunded - ferry or plane.

You can watch all the horses loose jumping which is quite an eye opener in itself. Some of the tack leaves a lot to be desired!

All the horses are vetted and you can request a blood sample that they keep in case you have problems once your horse is home.

Even if you don't buy anything its worth going just for the whole atmosphere.

I knew a horse that had been through the sales in Ireland, saw his vetting certifcate. Unfortunatly the vet hadnt picked up one back leg was longer than the other one...
