Hi I have not been on here for a very long time, but I maybe there are still people here who perhaps remember me and George from when I used to post regularly. I just wanted to say that very sadly my beloved George was put to sleep on 6th October. He had been semi retired for the last 3 years after having an operation on his suspensories that wasn't 100% successful and then developing arthritis in a number of his joints. He was doing well and enjoyed pootling about and was still eating his weight in hay/grass everyday! Sadly around July he went downhill and was struggling to play with his mates and was finding his walk hacks difficult, and the vet discovered he had arthritis in his stifle joints as well, so with the vets advice we gave him extra bute so he was comfortable and we enjoyed the rest of the summer together, but I wanted him to go before he really really started to struggle and before the winter set in. He went to the rainbow bridge very peacefully on a glorious sunny day, I can't believe that he is gone and I miss him dreadfully, he really was a very special boy. Thank you for reading, especially if you've read my posts in the past.

I remember your past posts, and I am truly sorry for your loss. I also lost my mare in June, its never easy but always better a day too early than a day too late xx

I certainly remember your posts. Our first horse was called George, so I always was pleased to hear about your George, who, indeed, was gorgeous.
I am sorry for your loss but, as above, better a week too soon than a day too late. When we have been able to do so, we have given our elderly horses one last summer and done 'the deed' in October before the bad weather sets in.
George had a lovely life with you, try to take comfort from your fantastic memories of him. (And don't be a stranger, let us know how you are getting on).

So sorry to hear this - I remember you were on here always with his very best interests at heart. I'm sorry you had to make a very hard decision as a result of that.

Best wishes.

Such sad news, I remember reading your posts about him. Take great comfort in knowing that you did him the greatest of all gifts and let him go when it was right to do so. I always say better a day too early than a day too late. You will have so many wonderful memories of him treasure them all x

Sorry to hear this. You were on here the first time I was (I came back as few years ago after a break ) and I remember all your stories about George. He was, indeed, gorgeous.
