gorgeous horse!

Nice, but is he really a full welsh D?
Never seen the Sabino gene in welsh colour to this extent....

This is what I thought although I am sure there are some colour experts on here who could put me right but I have always been led to believe this sort of colouring would not be a possible in a full sect D. Lovely horse though.

Am I right in thinking sabino is more common in the sec a? I certainly have seen more in that type - I have a palomino version with really blue eyes in the field at the moment. Just about to do our first bronze welsh medal show but not holding my breath; as this thread shows can be a little bit marmite! !

This Wesh B also has Splash white and sabino, just more minimally expressed.

This is the chunkiest Welsh B I have ever seen. Lovely but chunky.:)

This horse looks to my vastly uneducated (as far as colours are concerned) mind to be a coloured because he's at least 50% white.

Notice how all the white is extending upwards from his socks? That's the primary indicator of being sabino splash rather than tobiano or overo (where the colour and white are broken up).

This boy looks like he's been dipped in white.

Definitely possible, just a bit pointless really for those who want to show as a Welsh. Mind you the WPCS should realise that if they allow sabino, abnormalities such as this guy, can and will occur!

Pretty poor example of a welsh D when you look past the colour IMHO. Not a fan at all, I don't really like mostly white faces on coloureds. My welsh boy is black with 4 white socks, a blaze and a belly splash so clearly carries the sabino gene but I prefer more subtle markins than the horse in the advert.

I just can't believe he is still for sale! I saw him advertised on our local Facebook horse ads page months ago. He's so stunning I thought someone would have snapped him up!

Yep, which is why I think he would not qualify as a Welsh cob as far as the rules are concerned. He's coloured and that's that.

Splash and sabino are two different white marking genes, the splash causes the 'dipped in paint' look and Sabino and it's relative Dominant White, cause the ragged edges to the markings. Straight splash has very smooth edges to the white. You can get these 'loud' splashes from breeding two splash horses with less white - say four stockings and a wide blaze. Sabino is the same as Blagdon in Gypsies.

I'm normally the conformation geek and I know that his hind legs aren't great but I just love him, I think that his coloring is beautiful and if I had the money for a second horse then I'd snap him up :o

I know that he isn't the best example of a Welsh but I only do dressage anyway, I think that he'd make a stunning riding horse!

Argh I want him so bad!! :o:mad::D

He's on our local facebook page with a little bit more info! I'm trying to get the link but it's not working using a facebook app on the phone!
