Goring BE - lorry access adivce please!

Approaching from the West/M4 - last time I came was in tHe old lorry which was comfortably under the 11 foot max in Pangbourne. We now have a different lorry which while still 7.5t is taller - I make it approx 11'4". What is the tolerance on these bridges, would you think it would be ok on the basis they build in a little extra or do I need to go round? it is a real schlok if so, and locals would you come off M4 at A34 and go East Illsley, Compton, Aldworth, then B4009/B4526, or face going all the way round via Reading?? Any advice gratefully received

We've been today, just checked with Dad and it's 11ft...apparently the correct route for HGVs/bigger lorrys is on the page on the BE website...

You def don't want to do compton aldworth roads - Not sure what the other bridge in Pangbourne is but is def higher and you can go up to Streatley across to Goring (bit narrow but doable) and up the hill out of Goring to Crays Pond and then down. Through Reading on a Sunday should be fine too though

Thank you - yes, I have already looked at all that It's just that I wondered if anyone with inside knowledge of the area could add detail - eg we used to live by a bridge which was marked 10'6" but was actually considerably over 11 feet... Plus, if we can't do the bridge, wondering how dodgy the lanes (white roads) between East Ilsley and Aldworth are or whether it would be better going round the A roads. Thanks for the replies though

As a heads up, there a fair few roads closed round Henley and it is DEFINITELY worth checking! We always get through with our bog standard 7.5ton Leyland Daf lorry, we just breathe in!
