This weekend George and I went off to another competition, dressage again at Norton Heath. I was still pretty nervous but I do feel like I'm getting better dealing with the whole competition experience etc. and not getting quite so wound up

We did the walk and trot test in the indoor arena and George was a little star and got 68% and came 2nd

We then had a go at prelim 4, quite a difficult test for us as it involves cantering circles in the middle of the arena, as we both have dodgy balance it was always going to be tricky

I was a bit nervous as it was in a big outdoor arena with display boards and a photographer and that got George all goggle eyed too! Anyway we had a go and did it, we did leave the arena once

and when we did right canter (his most unbalanced) he shot off quite quickly and I was heard to shout 'oh sh*t'

luckily the judge had his car windows shut

Anyway we got 54% and came 15th out of 30 so not too awful and the judge put 'very promising horse with 3 correct paces who obviously tries hard'

So all in all a pretty good outing

Hope I've not bored you all to tears!

Oh well done! It just seems to get better and better. You may have to get used to the nerves for a while! I'm not sure they ever go really!

(you know the other day when you volunteered for the HHO Olympic dressage squad for 2012....Checkout the link in my sig! I have been playing!

I'm sure George has got a smile on his face, he's obviously feeling very proud and you should too! As GentleWarrior, I just don't have the bottle to ride in public, so to speak, and think what you two are achieving is fantastic. Keep it up and keep on posting, lovely to hear from someone who so obviously loves their horse and is having such a good time.
