Got a dog poop fine. :(

Took my dog to the beach this morning. We'd just got out of the car. He'd moved about six or seven feet away from the car and pooped. I went around to the boot to get a poop bag and the warden pounced on me. Said that she was fining me because I'd moved away from the poop. I pointed out that I'd gone to get a bag and she wouldn't listen. I'm pretty hacked off. :(

I would absolutely write in and challenge that. To be honest, I'd have challenged it perfectly politely at the time...well, politely and sternly, lol.

I did challenge it at the time- explained what had happened and that I was getting a bag. But apparently because I've moved away from the poop, that was it. :( It's a £50 fine.

Not sure how you're meant to clean up after your dog if you can't even get a bag out of the car before they pounce on you!

That's awful. I would challenge in writing too and I certainly wouldn't be paying £50.00 when I know I hadn't done anything wrong OP. Jobsworth.
 
I would challenge that with your local council. The rules say that you should be prepared to pick up when you walk your dog. ie if you are charging around the local park and Bonzo goes you should be equipped. If you aren't then that is fineable. It seems only fair, if you have only just that minute got out of the car, to allow you to get yourself together, particularly as you picked up. However if you had walked away with the dog then that would be fineable IME. Does that make sense?
 
That's out of order!

Was there a CCTV camera? then you can challenge it and say that you tried to pick up but you were refused to get a poo bag?

Personally i would have gone ballistic, that is just not on!
 
How bizarre!!! Definitely write and complain!

I once got a parking ticket while I was at the pay and display machine! There was a little queue but I can only have been away from the car for a couple of minutes!
 
Defiantly challenge it with the council straight away take pictures of your car verses the pooping place .
Just because a jobs worth says you moved away from the poop does not mean that's the law or the magistrates would think it reasonable .
