Hey guys i got a new horse end of july shes a 15.1hh irish cob 9yo big change for me considering im used to ponies with wee strides shes got huge strides lol! I've just been doing a lot of work on the ground with her and been riding her a few nights a week when i got her she was in french link loose ring snaffle. This was basically useless she leaned on it alot and had very little breaks lol so iv tryed a waterford snaffle to stop the leaning its helping but still having trouble stopping when she wants to go she does im going to stick with this bit for a while see how it goes but does anyone no of any other bits i could try? I know shes not in pain as she passed a 5* vetting the day before i bought her and the vet was out a couple weeks ago to vaccinate and do her teeth and she has a properly fitted saddle that has been recently checked :) dont really want to keep putting her in stronger bits incase she fights agaisnt them nd gets worse any advice would be apprecieted :)

Maybe she is also feeling fit and well and full of beans with lots of good care in her new home, I would give her time to settle with you before trying out too many changes, less is often more, lots of quiet slow work to make sure she is paying attention to you whilst you bond. Wishing you lots of fun and good times :-)

thanks guys :) ye the waterfordd is helping with the leaning so ive just ordered the 3 ring waterford gag and see how it goes getting it on trial from bit bank so if it doesnt work out can always get another one on trial :) yeh i will do i just dont no how to add pics?

i was thinking a flash or grackle but thought i should try a waterford bit first which has helped but just need some breaks now lol will try a few different things and see what works best for us both
