Well yesterday afternoon i went around to my field to ride and jump Dylan my 5yr old.My Mum and Dad were coming around a bit a later luckily they did i was only jumping a 70cm Cross pole but apperently we went really deep into the fence and parted company on landing!! To cut along story short i was knocked out for about 5 mins and my face went blue and i started shaking quite severly ! By the time i came round the ambulance was just coming in the field and they said it was standard procedure to send a air ambulance when they receive a call about a rider falling. As my blood pressure was high and i was still quite dowsy it still came and i got air lifted to hospital.I was in hospital for about 3 hours had a couple of X-rays and about half an hour after that i got sent home.
All very dramatic!
(cookies if you got this far)

im a bit but nothing to major!

Hope you're feeling better and perhaps you could make the Air Ambulance your charity of the year? It cost about £1000 for your little trip yesterday and they don't get any government funding, it's all done through donations! (pretty sure the Lifeboats don't either!) Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now and wish you well!

yes you are right MFH my OH is a trustee of the Herts and Essex air ambulance charity.

At the moment Herts and Beds are te only 2 counties in the UK that DO NOT HAVE air amb cover.

We are fundraising and raising awareness atm to get coverage for Herts via the Essex air amb.

Glad youre okay now!

They had to sedate me to get me onto the helicopter when I broke my back! I was not 'getting onto one of those things'!!!!!!!!!

Your are right, they have to rely on Chiltern Air support which is a police helicopter based in Beds..they do the best they can but always have to go back afterwards to pick up the seats they have to rip out to accommodate a stretcher

I think I would have panicked if they tried to put me in an air ambulance! Luckily I fell off close enough to a road that I could be carted off to the normal ambulance lol

. All these stories of falling off are enough to put me off jumping!

Ditto MFH, glad you are well. As MFH mentioned it cost £1k plus every time the air ambulance go out on a shout - and it is entirely funded by donations. We should all do our best to support them because with out a doubt we are very lucky to have them indeed.
