Pulled up at the barn this morning, to find two containers with a bit of some kind of liquid in them in where we normally pull up the car.
Get out, notice it's diesel that's in the bottom of them from the smell. There's also a fleece jacket that's had the sleeves cut off and the sleeves are next to the containers, soaked in diesel also.
Automatically, I go straight to the first door of the barn. The chain/padlock's gone and it's been tied back up with string.
Bear in mind, whole barn full of tack in plain view and housing only our own string of 'top' colts.
So naturally, started panicking over what was going to be missing.
Opened the barn up, all the tack was still there, no stable doors altered or tampered with, all horses content and not distressed at all. The draws were open of all the chests/medicine draws, but again, nothing taken.
Boss had looked around outside, and then became clear what had been done. There's 3 large lorries currently parked up on the concrete pad outside of our barn [nothing to do with us....landlord is letting them stay there]. At least two have had the diesel cyphered out of them, the end one still having the hose sticking out of it [which had been taken out of our yard - they'd cut a strip of our hose off from the wash bay to use].
So, realising nothing of ours had been taken or touched, calmed down a bit. Then about half hour later, realised that one thing had been taken out of our stuff, which was a turnout rug of mine. Which, in the whole scheme of things, is not a major thing as it could have been worse...however, it was my ponies one and only flipping turnout rug for this winter and one she's had for years and cost me £140 new. -_- It's bright pink polka dot on one side, but completely black in the inside and extremely heavy weight, and the neck to it was left....so guessing they took that to cover the cans of diesel in the back of whichever. Really rather pissed to be honest, as I am absolutely skint currently, and could really be doing without having to now buy a sodding replacement turnout rug for her now. I know one rug may not sound like much and that I'm just moaning, but it's more the situation that's irked me. If she'd trashed it in the field, then fine, I'd get her another one if it couldn't be repaired.....but, like this just being took, it's money that I didn't NEED to be spending.
Oh and the padlock and chain? Had just been left to the side. They'd only cut the last chain link, not the padlock, so we still have a chain and padlock to use?! How considerate.
So yes. That's been my day. I thought yesterday was bad enough, stuck in a lay by with a horse for 3 hours getting hit on by a perverted Italian guy who was trying to marry me off to his son. *shudder*
