Well I found I could never get foundation orange enough so I just rub Heinz tomato soup on my face now for that flawless natural look. As for the eyes I get coal and just rub it in my eyes, it hurts but the final look is soo worth it!

To answer the original OP question. Don't you think that alot of the famous people don't actually know the ins and outs of the stable and horse as they employ grooms, managers ect. So just because someone is famous and does Show Jumping does not mean they know much except how to jump a horse around an enclosed arena? Sorry for those that do know it all as in they do all the stable work, excersing, training and feeding. But those that always think they know best normally know nothing.

aah!! thats your secrets :P iv been using cresote and black hoof polish....

obviously not the right combination!

I quite fancy that there are several really big names reading and posting on here, and that they hide behind avatars as teenage girls and the ilk, with attitude who know nothing very much but aspire to be great! :p

If any real "Big Name" were reg'd on here (not saying they're not) they'd probably get dismissed by the masses for having a low post count. If they had a high one, I'd dispute their "Bigness" as, how would they find the time or be remotely interested?

As for posters to respect, that is easy. The ruder you are, the more you know about horsemanship. Also look out for adoring fans who are backing up the rude poster in their droves, even if that day they are choosing to argue that black is white (usually because some dreadful "novice" has suggested otherwise). Add a 200 a day post count and a recent join date (as they are frequently banned, apparently due to "button-pushers" and never their own actions), and you've your horsemanship guru. And beware, because although their identity frequently changes, you must ALWAYS know who they are. It's all in the forum rules.

Well put. I couldn't agree more:D:D:D

Does that mean that constructive comments are not worth anything unless someone has posted numerous times???

This made me laugh! :-D

It says it all really that this post has turned in a "katie price hate thread"

Totally uncalled for IMO

What does what she looks like, have anything to do with what she knows about horses.

This forum is so rude at times. yes i agree some people get what was coming by the replies/ threads they post, but genuine people, asking serious questions get shot down or just completely ignored?

I could carry this list on too.Its why I am ambivalent about horse sport. When you see something really good, like M Whitaker at Olympia or Ellen riding that very difficult mare, it lifts your heart. Then, though, you think about what is probably going on round the back and in yards generally.I have to say though, I don't know the Whitakers and they may all be saints for all I know.

Now this is going back a few years but my family used to showjump, Hickstead etc and trust me, behind the scenes was not a pretty sight. They were also very well known for their "training methods". Ive seen things that I wouldnt want anyone to ever experience and things that I shall never forget for the rest of my life!!

Ive not spoken to this side of the family for 12 years.

Yup. Whilst I would not want our company name linked with gear that does not fit, we are very careful and picky about who we would want to support given what can go on in the background (with some riders/trainers). Sorry if that is rambling, but your post has just brought up some memories I'd rather never have had.

Off back to work now. Even that is better than those memories.

I'm getting lost now, I am far too old for all this, I have no idea who I am now but i sure was nobody once.

At least I think I was.
If you drink a lot of orange drinks you don't need orange paint.....

It's good that there are all sorts of posters giving advice. The experienced person may have the technically correct answer but it may be someone inexperienced who gives the advice I am able to follow or at least lets me know that I am not alone with a particular problem.

HCH & Dragonslayer - must say its about time. Some of your posts are quite rude. HCH you come across as threatening.

I am new on here and this is what I was on about the other day with my bullying post, but people thought I was a troll.

Quite rude?

Ah, are you of the opinion that one should keep one's mouth shut if one doesn't agree? Why on earth should one apologise for what one sees?

Sorry, NOT going to happen...

And NO, I am neither a bully, part of a witches covern and who knows what else....IF what I see is blatant abuse, then I sure as green apples will not keep my opinions to myself.

This is also a forum where adults can post, can one not try to be jovial and have a tongue-in-cheek conversation?

Again, not in my book....

If you want nicey-nicey all the time, I am afraid that it won't always happen.

Just the way of the world.

I think it's very much the same in real life. Knowing the "know-it-all" and "self-obsessed" attitudes of many people in the horsey world (none of you lot I'm sure ;) ), I made a distinct point of never talking about what I have/have not done in the past or my experiences when moving to the area and joining livery yards. I arrived with a very novice OH, who I teach myself. Because of our funny working patterns, nobody at these livery yards ever saw me ride or do anything other than turn horses out at the weekend, but presumably due to their own insecurities it was always assumed I was also very much a novice and was treated in a very patronising way by several people. These same people have often commented on how much my OH's riding has come on in under a year and said that maybe I should think about having lessons with his instructor as they must be good...I always used to smile politely and laugh inwardly at this point! I think it just goes to show that, as on here, it is very easy to just leap to conclusions about other people's experience and knowledge, based on sometimes zero evidence! I am most definitely not an expert and am always asking for people's opinions and advice, even if I then choose to stick to what I originally intended to do. Other than that, I try to keep myself to myself around the horses and let the "experts" get on with it ;)

Very nicely put.

At my yard, all I 'interfere' in with my liveries is when they are to be wormed, and when to change paddocks......

They have rules they follow and most tend to....I only need to erupt if horses are left with no water/hay for long periods etc.

As for the liveries themselves.....I let them argue stuff between them, themselves! I only get involved if asked, if a livery has a real concern, but that's only ever happened once!

Oh I'm sorry Mrs M. :( Hugs x

I don't subscribe to the 'celeb culture' and I don't give a tinkers cuss who you are or how much money you have, I am much more interested in genuine knowledge and experience and it does not take too long to figure out who has that and who's posts are worth reading.

Too many people looking for a fight here these days, but still the occasional gem and a few folk who's posts I always read....although sadly thinned by bans and those who choose to not visit any longer.
QR
Absolutely agree. I am not interested in celebs, except Tim Stockdale and he is a hunk!

Seriously there are people on here who really know what they are talking about, doesn't matter if they are famous or not.Their experience and advice is worth their weight in gold.
