Got Beau back yesterday after spendin gthe whole day in a tizz like a 5yr old at Xmas!
Was all good, he turned out find and instantly found his old friends and is back in a gang with my mates horses.
But, he seems to cirlcle in his box when he is in on his own now, and as he is shod has realised that he can make one hell of a racket as the bottom on the stable door is metal.
Also brakes are about the same. Was informed he went hunting, jumped everything he was asked to, but would not stop and was trying to overtake EVERYONE.
He stops if you squeeze with your knees and really lower yourself into the saddle, but this can take almost half a side of the school, and doesnt work in canter. I think that having a very light rider means that his mouth has been the main brake, and has become a bit dead.
He was ridden in a 3 ring bit, normal snaffle link. He has been ridden in a Rugby Pelham before and this did help as long as you didnt gallop (is you gallop you only stop when HE wants to stop!), and I thin kthe curb cahin helped.
Can you get a curb chain put on to a 3ring if it doent already have one?
Also, any tips on how to stop a back riser pad disappearing under the saddle? The damn thing ended up like falling out under the back of the saddle as it has nothing to keep it on.
Well anyhoo, muscles aching tonight, but at least I havent forgotten how to muck out, was like a s**T shovelling deamon tonight, did it in 10 mins
.
At least I have 5 weeks to get into a routine before Bruce gets home, so trying to work out how to NOT stink of horse when been up at the stables as I am convinced he finds me LESS attractive when I have been up there
MEN!
Sorry for the LOOOOOOOng post, just excited/relieved/happy and tired
