Not wanting to depress you all about winter when we are still in July, but had a really productive day today!

Both horses shod, scrubbed out our water troughs, went for a lovely hack, poo picked, then got the call.......

We had left messages reserving hay for this year with our normal supplier. She called & said we are cutting it - have 200 bales for you - can we deliver now? It is one of my least favourite jobs of the year, but to get the first cut (lovely hay too) straight off the field and stacked in the barn ready for winter by the 2nd week of July gives me a real sense of satisfaction! Just had to share - Sad aren't I?

Great isn't it - one less thing to worry about! Seal of approval from our 2 TBs also - they hoovered up the remnants from bale throwing! We were reminiscing about the days when Mum bought hay at 70p per bale

Lucky you, we've not managed to cut ours as while we had the dry weather we were waiting on a new bailer belt (40 year old bailer) and since we got it it's rained every day. We've got more to cut this year as our neighbour wanted his front paddock cut so we said we'd cut it as hay if that was OK, and of course the forecast is not good.

My sympathies to you - I know what a nightmare it was last year with all the wet weather - we really struggled & only managed to get 120 of a 2nd cut which were fine, but it was very difficult. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get some dry weather!

I got mine in last week and it is a relief especially after the weather worries of last year. I managed to find someone that does square bales this year as normally a farmer cuts it but in round bales, so takes it away for his cattle as I cannot have round bales. So this year I have managed to keep it for my horse and at 70p a bale I am more than jolly!

Last year couldn't use half of it as it got wet . Am praying for a dry spell, trouble is everyone round here has grass waiting for mowing, contractor is going to be very busy if we ever do get a dry spell and I always seem to be down the list
