got my little lorry... and a mouse/rat update too

self indulgent post alert

today i picked up my little lorry... i went armed with a list of questions, and a list of things to do/check (thank you to all that helped compile the lists...).

sadly, i'm a plonker and got over excited. i asked half my questions, got in a kerfuffle, handed over the money, and drove off. seriously, i'm crap.

anyway, it got me home - 4 hours down the A1 (which is more than the last lorry did - also bought by me in a kerfuffle). and i managed to drive it ok. gears were random (gah, bet it needs new gearbox) and air brakes scare the crap out of me... but... we're HOME! yay! and it's CUTE! yay!

My lovely OH will have a proper look at it in the morning to see if i've bought a complete DUD or if i've got a little bargain. anyone want a lift anywhere?!?1 woohoo... watch out world, i'm on the road... beep beep, toot toot, brmm brmm

mouse/rat update: i bought practically the entire mouse/rat trap section of Homebase, and set lots of traps. went to kerilli's last night for HHO meet. came home to find my husband proudly displaying EIGHT dead mice which had been trapped. today, two more were caught. no sign of the rat. i'm hoping it was just the one, and that my handcream poisoned him. so... there must have been at least ten mice in my bedroom... ARGH!

I had a rat that the cats bought in and mislaid in the kitchen. It took up residence in my drawer by the sink and scared the bejesus out of me for about a week until the cats kindly mustered enough energy to re-catch it

Ewwww - well done on the mice/rat front - I read your post yesterday and was too scared to reply!! I'd had a noisy...(RAT or two) in my roof - told my LL and he's put some bait down, no more shuffling in the wee hours and no smell YET. The thought of them on the bed gives me nightmares...literally.

I suspect that's the reason i'm sat here in semi darkness is they have also chewed the lights...so down to just one dim lightbulb now, the other fell out of the rose a few weeks ago. I make my humble abode sound delightful!
I can cope with mice just not the ratty friends.

Horsebox sounds great, does he have a name yet?!

we have no lights on the upstairs landing or any TV reception as mouseys have chewed through elec cable and tv aerial... so i sympathise...

horsebox is currently called Katie as her numberplate looks a bit like Katie...

On the furry invasion front. We call ours Russel, we got rid of the hens and put poison donw in the roof. When we hear a russel of plastic wrap we let out a cheer. Sad, evil I know but we can sleep easy in our beds now. I couldnt empty a trap so well done your OH

Glad it got you home OK, and hope it's fine and not going to be expensive. My car is a KT - and came from ebay and was fine.

Anotehr thought on the mice - get some eucalyptus oil and sprinkle on tissues and stuff under the furniture in your bedroom - will keep them out as they hate the smell

it only auto replies for the first email from each person i think... i did get it... and ALMOST plucked up the courage to do it... but then remembered the battery in the scales has run out... will get OH on the case in the morning and start on weds...
