Got My Rugs Back From the Cleaners - Would you be annoyed?

I took 6 rugs to a local tack shop to be cleaned a few weeks ago, I picked them up on Wednesday but didn't look in the bags.

Got them out this weekend and was a bit annoyed to find that out of 3 turnout rugs that I sent to be cleaned and re-proofed 2 of them have come back a different colour. One was a Rambo Duo with neck and the other (which I had washed to sell) an Amigo Medium with neck.

The main body of the rugs have really faded, but the hood (which must have been washed separately) are still the origional colour so I now have two rugs that look like they don't match the hoods. Both rugs were navy but the Amigo is now almost purple in colour so it is quite obvious, same type of thing with the Duo although not quite as bad.

Just to make matters worse the Duo was sent in with a liner attached to it but that hasn't come back to me, so will obviously have to contact them about that.

Would you be annoyed about the colour changing rugs or would you just forget about it? Not sure weather to mention it or not when I tell them about the missing Liner....

I really cannot see that one wash/reproof would so drastically change the colour of a rug. Are you certain that the rugs are actually yours? Or do you think they could have mixed them up with someone else's older ones of the same size and make?
I would be very annoyed - and be really pissed about the lost liner unless I got it back pronto.
TBH I no longer send my rugs for cleaning. I find they are never the same again, the waterproofing doesn't work and I have had rugs lost before. I just hose/brush them at the end of the season and put them away. Stable rugs are different, although I tend not to use them. I wash the ones that will fit in my home machine, and only send any others for washing if they are very stinky.

Yep I'm almost certain they are both mine, on the Duo the tail flap is still the origional colour but the rest of the rug is faded. We thought that maybe they had been done on to hot a wash which may have caused them to fade

I have used this place for years without any problems before

It could just be that some of the fabric is more colour fast than the others - it happens. The company I work for makes numnahs and such, we have to wash test EVERY batch of fabric before we use it as some leaks colour like crazy while other batches dont. We buy from the same supplier, same quality, same original manufacturer and it still happens. I can appreciate its very annoying, but may not be the Rig Washers fault

Hmmm, bit of a slip there - should have typed RUG washers. RIG washing would be an interesting and challenging job lol

I would be very annoyed. Thats why I don't pay through the nose to have my rugs cleaned and repaired - I do them myself. Its amazing what you can fit in a washing machine and run through on a bog standard sewing machine.

i would at least take them back and show them what has happened and say also that you've lost a liner. they need to know that the rugs have been damaged.

this is the reason i dont use tack shops or specific rug cleaners to do my rugs. i take mine to the local laundrette and get them washed and reproofed (they use Nikwax wash/reproofer) and have never had a mix up as they normally only have 1 set of rugs in at a time - not very helpful to you right now tho
