Ok so if people at yard didn't think I was bonkers before they know it tonight.
I got so overcome with emotion & cried on front of my instructor.
So wont go into the background as did post about confidence soaring after a bad accident years & years ago couple wks ago on HHO.

Well my 4 year old mare & myself have had some scary moments , hairy moments :eek:frustrating moments etc BUT the past 24 hours have been the best of my time with her.
What I am going to say others here may laugh at but for me its a huge personal achievement.

So she has " Always" had an issue with the correct canter lead which has been very very frustrating - no matter what I would do it would take 4 attempts before getting her to strike off on the right lead ... Last night she decided to show off in our group lesson & show the others how its done AMAZING transitions on both reins on the correct leg both times for the first time ever:D

Tonight had my private & my nerves lie with jumping ! Normally will jump a few & leave it at that - Well my instructor had different opions & didn't give me any option but to jump! - warmed horse up, then trotting poles & then fences, NOT Huge but must have done 20 jumps or so in trot & canter & not a bother on me ( just need to sort my balance out a bit )

Had a melt down after the last jump as I realise now things are really coming together for us & my instructor got emotional aswell ( I bought horse from her ) so for all the people ( not here obviously ) but at the yard & who I know personally who think I made the wrong choice of horse am raising a lovely glass of Sauvignon Blanc to you tonight - Coz we have Proved you all wrong:)

Onwards & upwords , cant wait to see what the weekend brings:)

Thank you:D

Sounds a bit bonkers but I do think she understood we had both done so well as when I gave her her treat in the field as per normal she didn't leg it off to the rest of the gang she just stood with her head low against my jacket while I scratched her ears ( which she hated up till tonight?? ) for about 10 mins till I made a move.

Bravo to you !! X

Those moments are the best, I had one today during my lesson. My baby boy was ridden in a gag bottom ring by his previous owner who was new to horses/riding etc and didn't understand go forward. Instead he would hop and fight almost waiting to be socked in the mouth.

Today we were trotting in his gorgeous new dressage saddle with no fighting an I swear he glided :D:D so I started shouting "he is moving he is moving omg he is moving" think my instructor thought I'd lost the plot- she has only taught us twice but she got what I meant when she said at the end he looked great :D

Well done you, I am scared of letting my boy go into canter, because he squeals and shakes his head, I know it's excitement but I don't bounce well, I have enquired into getting an instructor and just need to pluck up the courage to book her, the thought of jumping gives me nightmares, a happy hacker born and bred me!

Congratulations! Have a few glasses on me as well - I know how shattering a loss of confidence can be and what is simple and taken for granted by other riders can have a huge emotional impact on us when it comes together!

PS - I often find a ride a bit better after a glass of Sav Banc:)

LOL, nope same horse as she did her usual trick of " Hiding in the Corner " thinking I cant see her when it comes up to tack up time.

and things got even better today - Yard are helping me with her one day ( from this wk - they offered:) ) a wk & today my favourite person who works at the yard decided to take her out on a trek  We have only done in hand work out & about, today she went up the field & to the forest and didn't put one foot wrong! :D - didn't spook at anything & didn't take off at all! She had an amazing time!

Congratulations!

PS - Are you sure someone hasn't swapped your horse for an identical looking one?
