This time last year I advertised my horse for sale because work and other commitments were making it impossible finacially and time wise to
Keep him. I found a seller who was perfect and adored him, she had him vetted and imagine my horror when the vet told her categorically not to buy him as he had a large cataract in one eye and was likely already blind... Sale was lost understandably and I didn't readvertise as he was essentially no longer worth what I would have been prepared to sell him for.
The vet who did the vetting told me not to bother getting vet out, cataract was big but other eye was fine and no treatment available anyway.
Our vet was at the yard today for a few bits and bobs and I asked her to check his eyes to make sure they hadn't worsened... Guess what? He doesn't even have a bloody cataract his eyes are fine!!
Must say I am glad now as situation has improved massively since I tried to sell him and realise now I would have been gutted when he went.
A little peeved about the fact I have not only lost a sale (the sole reason she didn't buy was cause he had a cataract- I felt awful poor lady was gutted and spent money on the vetting) but that also I have now got to pay a bill to check a condition that never existed.
But hey- at least the nag isn't blind
