Got the ball rolling for a potential 2025 foal - wish me luck!

Been silently stalking this thread to get my foal fix while waiting for my mare to pop 😅 any updates?
Afraid not. That one day she looked more advanced and has now reverted to looking heavily pregnant but no signs of imminent foaling. The weather has gone colder here, so wondering if she's decided to cross her legs and wait for warmer weather....
When is your mare due?

Ohh yeah quite possible she is holding off for the warmer weather, I hope it comes soon so you aren't waiting too much longer! It must be going so slow for you. (I will continue my stalking in hopes 😂)

I'm not entirely sure, all I know is she's at least 310 days+. She's been bagging up since February 28th and here's where we are at now so hopefully not a whole bunch longer. Waiting for some milk so I can start testing it!

Little Madam is at 333 days today. It seems to be taking forever and I think she may feel so as well if her vile behaviour towards the Old Lady at the moment is anything to go by (but do not try to take Old Lady out of sight at any cost!). I had a routine doctor's appointment last night, and my blood pressure is almost high, which isn't normal for me, I wonder if it's pre-foal stress...

Oh bless her, it is a long time to be pregnant isnt it. Most definitely the pre-foal stress, but it'll all be worth it in the end! Will keep my fingers crossed that you get some warmer weather in soon to meet the little one 🙏

Well, being a good mare and following the unwritten rules that they must have their foals at the most inconvenient / unexpected times, Little Madam decided to ruin all my best laid plans by showing no signs of giving birth early yesterday morning before I left for Paris for work, was all business as usual when my Dad then my neighbours checked on her during the day and had the foal's feet and nose out, in the orchard instead of her box, on the only rainy day of the week, by the time I got back from work. Cue a bit of panicked running to get my phone and supplies, but a little colt was born easily and immediately followed by the afterbirth just after 9pm.
Managed to get everyone back up into the dry stable with my instructor's help (He and his daughter came over to assist). Sat in the corner of the stable for several hours to make sure that everyone was all right, that the little guy was actually latching on and not air sucking (he picked that up very quickly after a false start of trying to suck the wall) and a quick rescue from trying to fall into the water bucket. Then off to bed for me to carry on watching through the camera and leave the two to get to know each other.
Both mum and foal seem fine. Little Madam is completely besotted by him. It's amazing to watch my quiet, reserved little mare transform into a protective, neighing, loving mother. She has such a look of bliss on her face while he was suckling.

That's mares for you, but I'm so pleased it's all worked out so well. They're both gorgeous. Now how are you going to get any work done today :D
I'm not! I've taken the next two days off work (boss was warned I would be doing so at short notice). I will be catching up on sleep and admiring this little lad and the effect he has on his mum.

Ah he's lovely 😍 @Titchy Pony Does he have a name yet? Love Aunty/Uncle looking over the wall all 'whats all this then' 😁

Enjoy foal cuddles, they are the best
Thank you!

His name is Peregrin, Pippin for short, though he's not been officially registered yet. Hopefully his name will be acceptable.

Yep, that's Aunty Old Lady in the back ground. She was present for the foaling down, seeing as it didn't quite go to plan. She stood with me while we watched Little Madam and Pippin get to know each other. She's had 4 or 5 foals of her own in the distant past, so knows what they're all about and will hopefully be a wonderful aunty.

Looking forward to more cuddles, I'm keeping interactions to a minimum for now so that mum and baby have time to get to know each other properly, but Little Madam is fine with me touching him and being in the stable with them.
