When I finished work today, I had a text on my phone. Opened it, and it was from my YM. She has offered me to full/part loan one of her horses!!
She called me a little later on, and we had a chat. Bacially she has too many horses and not enough time, and she feels bad that he is just in a field doing nothing. She did go really far with him competing wise, but due to an injury he can no longer go that far, but could still do local stuff... which is all I would do TBH!!

She said she has asked another girl, that I know, and between us, we would share him during the week, YM would not get envolved unless she REALLY had to.

She said it would be £15 per week if I part loan or £25 per week if I full loan, plus half towards shoes (he is only shod on the fronts)
So what do you think? Shall I? Shan't I?

He is a pic of me having a lunge lesson on him last year:

I would be able to do competitions on him if I want to, and in Sept, the other girl will be getting more involved with Uni, so I could potential full loan if I get on with him that well!!

Life throws strange things at you sometimes!! xx

That sounds like an absolute bargain to me, what a nice YO!

(what about Horlicks though, will you still ride her?)

:) Go for it, but maybe ask her if you can see how it goes for a few weeks, without getting into a set contract time wise. Then if you decide you don't get on with him so weel you can let her know with no hard feeling hopefully. Rather than jumping in feet first. Just how i would want to do it anyway :)

I would never stop riding Horlicks, she is my dream horse, but this means I can get more involved, do some local comps and start feeling part of the yard again (if you see what I mean?)
Yes, YM said if I do want to do it, then I can ride him a few times, to make sure I am happy and go from there. She says I would be fine, as he is a "lazy bum" sometimes, but still, new horse and all that!!

I'm gona see what my OH thinks, and then maybe ask if I can use him in one of my regular lessons, see how I get on!!

What a good offer! He looks a lovely boy. I'd say if you can afford the money and have the time then go for it. Your YO is obviously happy for you to see how it works out before taking on a full commitment. Sounds ideal.

3B - No I don't think they will :( As she is in the Riding School, her main job is the RS, although at the moment due to her back and now lost shoe, she isn't doing too much of that!!

It may help towards me buying her though, as it will mean I will become part of the yard again, rather than a well known client, if you catch my drift!! Once I can, I will be the first in line putting my offer down for Horlicks!!

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea!!
I will definitely be envyed by a few on the yard, (and a few noses may be put out!!) But I don't care. The YO asked ME!!

This could open so many doors, and offer so many oportunities!!

I'm not going to jump in... I'm going to think about it over the next 24 hrs and then make a decision.

This sounds like a brilliant opportunity and he looks like a really nice horse.

Oh my god lady why didnt you tell us in SFA!! woooo - go for it I say - you never know you might end up getting more/free use of horlicks too! xx

Sorry Callly!! I was going to put it in SFA, but thought it would be better in here!!
I am going to speak to OH tonight about it, and see what he thinks (as money is involved).
I think I will go for it, though. Like you say, it may get my foot in the door when it comes to buying Horlicks, especially as I will become more chatty with the YM!!
But even still, what an opportunity!! To ride my YM home bred star horse!!
