So I need to replace my riding hat (again!). I've worn Charles Owen Competitor skulls for the last 7 years but gross as it is I find I get really hot under them, particularly during summer and they get grotty after a while. They also seem increasingly bulky compared with newer models.

I rarely jump, only do affiliated dressage and have a seperate hat/hats for competing so it is just for riding at home - therefore I really want something comfortable, low profile/still smart and breathable. I really dislike the bicycle helmet type hats though, they just don't look safe to me.

I was looking at the GPA Titium (kitemarked) on Equestrian Clearance. Does anyone have one? Are they worth the money/comfortable etc?

I have a GPA titanium. I lurve it. its cool and comfy...however i only paid £81 for it and i doubt id pay £200plus as im a tight git......

the champion ventair is a really comfy, lightweight hat & rated very safe by the MDIRF tests. The GPA hats performed the worst of all the hats, even the cheap lightweight bike style helmets like the dublin onyx or troxels.

I have a GPA speed air and it does exactly what I bought it for, it keeps my head cool and doesn't make my hair sweaty and sticky. I really like it. I didn't pay full RRP for mine and I doubt I would have bought it at a higher price. I got a real bargain at Badminton!

I have a gpa titium and i still have a sore head from tuesday when i fell off trotting round the field and landed on the peak (horse spooked and fell over i'm not completely incompetant

). I know someone who fell off and her horse stood on her (wearing a gpa) and the hat was completely caved in. On the plus side they do keep you cooler but i wont be buying another one

I have a Titium and I absolutely adore it

I rode nine miles in muggy weather today and tbh, I barely sweated under it at all! They are so lightweight - hat headaches are a thing of the past!
