Grabbing the headcollar with his mouth when I'm trying to put it on

***waves!!*** got a 6 year old mare that does it, everything goes in the mouth if at all possible! She is very gentle with it tho - she kinda sucks your fingers into her mouth, never bites, cheeky girl!

My boy always did this. I think it was just because he likes stuff being in his mouth! He loves having his gums rubbed, the hose sprayed in his mouth, plays with zips etc. You just have to pretend to have a treat in your hand to distract them then quickly slip the headcollar on

Oh thank you all so much, I no longer feel alone! Reading all these it makes me realise I'm not alone in owning a complete clown for a horse who takes at least five attempts to get the headcollar on, everything hanging up goes on the floor, coats get sucked, hair gets ruffled, shovels and broom get munched on and put on the floor. I've even posted a warning on his door stating his latin name - Equinenaughtysaurus eatyourcoatus! With a warning not to leave belongings near or he will pull them into his stable and pee on them, buttons and zippers are good game for removing with gusto!
He grooms me back when I brush him too and plays like a puppy if I slap him round the chops and pretends to bite me.
I know its all naughty behaviour and I'm told off for laughing at him which makes him worse but he's my horse and I'll never sell him so I have to deal with the problem. He is a very intelligent, funny character and I absolutely adore him.
He's eight this year and clearly is never going to grow out of this, his mother was much more ladylike but clearly he learnt nothing from her.

My horse's back is in great shape and he loves to hold things in his mouth although he doesn't actually try and get hold of the headcollar when putting on.

Max, didn't think he is a qualified chiro (so should not be treating horses).
